Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

That 4/5 jobs idiocy has been debunked.

No it hasnโ€™t.

Are you saying the misogyny, racism and treason embedded in Reform UK doesn't need talking about?๐Ÿคฏ
Or that you just don't want to face it and address it?๐Ÿค”
Or that it doesn't matter to you because you'll excuse anything if the person is right wing like you?๐Ÿซค

Your conversational circle is seeming more rarified with every post you make.

Raise your standards. You don't have to subject yourself to hatefilled, racist, misogyny to the point you make an eejit of yourself normalising it and defending the indefensible. Call it out. Try making things better rather than accepting this shit.

Edited

Millions of people support Reform. They were leading in the polls and could perhaps win in 2029 according to the latest view of John Curtice. They are a mainstream party. Their views are not "rarified" by any sense of the word.

No need to agree with them but also try and maintain standards of civility and don't insult other people you disagree with. Express your own views. That would be my suggestion.

TopPocketFind · 16/10/2026 18:22

These by election results hopefully show people disagreeing with racism and sexism.

Exactly. Appeasement has been tried in the past. If you give in, the extremists will just demand more, and more, and more. That goes for extremists on both sides of the political divide, it's human nature.

Shutting down debate leads to extremism. Calling everyone racist just makes the word lose its power. In fact constantly calling out racisim seems to have made things worse. The views don't go away.

Sunlight is the best form of disinfectant. And trying to understand why people are like that and deal with the issues from the root cause. Ie why are people against large amounts of immigration.

Labour dont know what a woman is.

The Greens arr racists.

The only party with a black woman as leader is the Conservatives. Vote for them.

I'm pretty sure a GE will focus minds. All three right wing parties, and the majority of the UK, know we simply can't tolerate another 5 years of this socialist nonsense. The numbers are there and they will consolidate when it matters.

Socialist nonsense
Do you know what a socialist government does. You might want to read some more as this government is certainly not Socialist.
I agree with Op the realisation of the toxicity of right wing policies are turning people off.

I think youโ€™ll find the original assertion was torturing statistics. And if you think the debunk is semantics, you might want to check out what that means.

Badenoch can't get her sums right and appointed a (ex)neo Nazi. I am not a supporter of warfare over welfare either

But I would vote Tory to keep Reform out.

I would too but this seat is only ever likely to be Tory so my vote makes no difference anyway. Added to which the local MP is a decent old school Tory - God only knows how he managed to get selected after Johnsonโ€™s purge.

I express my own views very clearly and am civil. No racism, misogyny, politics of envy or classism from me.๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Just as Reform representatives express their views clearly. Which is why they are failing with the electorate. Well that and the treason and proven incompetence.๐Ÿ™„

A PP mentioned the National Front. The National Front are a failed party from the past. They failed because the UK electorate rejected them. Reform are going the same way.

I'm in favour of the sunlight approach. Which is why the ITV report is such a great thing. Bringing what these people are right out there into the light. More, please.

Labour always have a really good ground game on getting out the vote in by-elections. Honestly everything they do is going to push people towards reform. Iโ€™m not a reform voter so it gives me no pleasure to say that. Really worried about a serious bond crisis.

More serious under Labour or Reform do you think?

Defence over welfare I think was the line. Not warfare. National security can't come at the expense of social security.

Si vis pacem, para bellum. Which I think must be true as it worked during the Cold War.

You can't label right wing policies as toxic just because some party members spoke out of turn. As I said, Labour have never had a woman leader. And neither have they had a leader of colour. The only party that has done both of those several times is a right wing party.

Do correct me if Im wrong obviously but I can't think of another party.

Shame that the previous government didn't invest in defence then

Maybe because none of the other parties are performative in choosing their leaders and choose the best person. Just a thought.

We canโ€™t take any more as a country of the right wing nonsense thatโ€™s brought the country to its knees. Brexit has wrecked the economy. Public services are in the toilet due to more than a decade of underinvestment. People canโ€™t get medical appointments. Prisons are overflowing. This isnโ€™t down to this Government, they are down to long term strategies and we canโ€™t afford to go back to another right wing government that wants to use public services to enrich themselves, as in Michelle Mone, and why hasnโ€™t she been prosecuted.

Well said!

TopPocketFind · 16/10/2026 21:30
