Yes, I think it's a big decision for the Conservatives as to whether they would or wouldn't join a coalition.

If it gets them into power, they won’t hesitate. Look at the last. Theresa May palled up with the DUP in 2017. David Cameron teamed up with Nick Clegg in 2010.

Poll percentages are not correlated to seats. The 2024 general election was a good example.

Labour received fewer votes in 2024 compared to 2019 which was considered to be their worst result in 84 years. However, they more than doubled their seats from 203 to 412.

They’ve been pretty clear they’re ABL so it doesn’t really matter.

Does to me. I'd far, far rather Kemi as PM than Farage.

But it is still funny. He'll be switching to Plaid next, like the Refirm Senedd member. Or Green perhaps.

I have kept a copy of that seat projection. I will compare it to the actual after the next general election.

Based on those numbers, a coalition of Labour and the Liberal Democrat’s would be 325 seats. One short of 326. So, who else would be in the coalition?

A party winning by elections and splitting the left wing vote as the Greens are currently are worth discussion.

That is young people who believe garbage like "We will ban private renting" (although we are all landlords and you would have to live with mum and dad all your life) or "We will just make all drugs legal, it isn"t real world thinking, the majority of voters are not going to vote for nonsense like that, although it would be funny to see them win a GE, the bond market meltdown would be fucking EPIC.

Well this has cheered me up today!

’They’ have zero understanding of what’s at stake - it’s all a game to them.

They forget the real world consequences, in their provincial, parochial lives.

Wishful thinking, they did it in France, parties with no policies really in common, to keep Macron in place but MLP is still projected to win this time, Germany is moving more and more to the right as the clusterfuck of mass uncontrolled immigration keeps rolling, there is a lot of road left for Labour to crash the economy, and every move they make to thwart democracy will come back to bite them.

Oh wise @BIossomtoes I have a question (or two) for you -

When is this Labour Govt going to tackle welfare?
When is it going to stop taxing the most productive to give to the undeserving?

I don’t know, not being in possession of a functional crystal ball. I don’t know why you’re asking me.

There’s also a lot of road left for dodgy Farage to screw it up and get arrested and end up in jail! And yes, the ending up in jail is wishful thinking, but he’s still likely to screw up since. He is now very unpopular according to the polls if we believe them which many on here do!

I"m reading "Treasure Islands" just now, about the history of offshore banking and tax havens, early on Paul Hogan gets a mention, and when the Australian government were going after him hard and people were saying he would be jailed he said that as he hasn"t done his own tax in 30 years there would be at least two law firms and a handful of accountants in the cell before him, if Farage got lifted for this there would be a line of police vans outside the House Of Commons just waiting to handcuff people, the problem with changing the laws is that it is difficult to make it "Illegal only if Farage gets Money" and illegal "Only if Farage gets a LOT of Money" without voters noticing.

I agree it’s very unlikely he’ll ever get arrested and I know that’s my wishful thinking.

I honestly think Farage is like a pet project and his popularity with the public comes and goes. It’s never going to be enough to get elected as Prime Minister.
