“It was a serious mistake for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to opt-in to the pact. It was the wrong decision to hand-over powers on migration to the European Union. It will not fix the problems those parties have presided over in the international protection system. On this and other areas, the Irish Government should be defending the right of the Irish people to make these decisions, not handing more and more powers to Brussels.

Why do you think so many of our doctors are recent migrants? Doctors who come from the UK and read medicine here do not want to work for the NHS because they never see their children. So they go to places like Australia.

Farage chose Clacton because the views of many of the electorate made it the most likely constituency to electorate him. Not because he gives a XXXX about Clacton or the people who live there. So yes, they have elected him again, because he represents their views.

I think it is more interesting to see how other constituencies have reacted to the by election, where people less extreme are concerned about corruption and honesty.

If the EU countries have high migration, too then where does this narrative come from that everyone is headed for the UK because it’s a soft touch?
