Anyone else TTC number 2 in their mid-30s and fancy some company? 😊

I’m 35, have a DD who is just about to turn 4, and we’ve just started our first cycle trying for number 2.

I feel like we’d just reached the glorious stage of proper sleep, no nappies, actual conversations and being able to leave the house without half of the house crammed into a changing bag… so naturally I decided what our lives really need is a newborn 😂

I went very Type A when TTC my DD and turned the whole thing into a project - LH strips, BBT, supplements, special lube, the works 🙈 This time I’m trying very hard to be more relaxed and go with the flow. Trying being the operative word 😂

Would love some company from anyone in a similar boat: TTC number 2, mid-30s, slightly excited, slightly questioning their own sanity and trying not to symptom spot at 2DPO 😂

PS. Currently on cycle 1 and my fertile window is just about closing, so now entering the very calm and rational part where I definitely won’t analyse every bodily sensation for the next two weeks 😂🙈

Morning team! ☀️
How’s everyone doing? Almost at the end of the week! ❤️
I honestly don’t know what to tell you anymore… 😂
I can see a line, but I don’t think it’s really got any stronger between yesterday evening and this morning. I also did a red dye Clearblue, and that had the faintest pink line too, although it wouldn’t photograph at all.
I genuinely don’t know what to think. After yesterday evening’s much more obvious line, I was convinced I’d wake up to something noticeably darker this morning… but I don’t think I have.
For reference, the tests are:
Top to bottom: Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning, Wednesday evening, Thursday morning.
To my eyes, the biggest jump is between Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening. I don’t really see much difference between Wednesday evening and this morning, but maybe I’m too close to it now. What do you all think?

9dpo today, tested and was negative. I know it's still early but I just have that feeling that I'm out this cycle 🙃

CasualOverthinker · 23/07/2026 06:52

@Agathapoirot and @SophieP89 I’m sorry for your negatives this morning. 9 DPO is so incredibly early though…don’t trust everything you see on here, it almost makes it sound like everyone gets BFPs at 7/8 DPO which is nonsense. Unless you get your AF you’re not really out! Crossing everything for positives later this week!!

OP posts:
Agathapoirot · 23/07/2026 06:53

I’d say those lines are pretty good! Considering you don’t know what dpo you are, and that hcg doubles every 48 hours, you wouldn’t necessarily expect a big jump day to day.

I think with that many FRER lines you’re safe to say you’re pregnant, you just don’t know how far along, and probably have to go from last period date to begin with?

Agathapoirot · 23/07/2026 06:56

@SophieP89 I feel the same this cycle, just don’t feel pregnant at all!

Despite what the testing at 9 dpo may look like, I’m okay with it not happening straight away, I would just ideally love to have another spring/summer baby!

SophieP89 · 23/07/2026 07:08

@Agathapoirot@CasualOverthinker Thank you, I think I lose hope as soon as I see the negatives, I will still test tomorrow but if it's negative again I will just wait and see if AF arrives.
Hoping for some positive outcomes for you both too, those lines do look good so far! 😊

Peedthebed · 23/07/2026 07:39

@CasualOverthinker i wouldn’t expect to see much change in 12 hours really. It doubles every 48, so try again tomorrow and see if there’s a tiny difference.

Im in my fertile window according to all my apps and dh has a stomach bug. So I think the month is a write off for me

Mortima · 23/07/2026 07:48

@CasualOverthinker I agree, it's definitely safe to say you're pregnant with all of those lines! It must be horribly frustrating not to see a clearer progression in the strength of them, but you could still be really early, and <12 hours difference between yesterday evening and ths morning may well not be enough time to see a visible difference.
I really hope it's a viable one - have you told your partner yet?

Sorry for the those with negative tests, keep us updated though - FWIW I thought I was out because my boob soreness had eased off a lot, but it seems this pregnancy is different to my previous one - boobs feel fine, whereas before I feel like they were sensitive for the whole first trimester.

I have, however, already been vomming 😖along with diarrhoea, feeling bloated, gassy, and a random taste of egg in my mouth 😅sex on legs, me...

CasualOverthinker · 23/07/2026 08:44

thank you all! I hope you are right, maybe I’m just expecting too much from those poor tests lol. I am maybe 10/11 DPO?! It also doesn’t help that with my previous pregnancy it was an immediately visible strong pink line. At the time I thought I was 8 DPO, but looking back on my dates now, I think I may have been more like 13/14 DPO at the time. I’ve always been super reliable with tracking lol.

@Mortima ahhh sorry for the not so glamorous preg symptoms, hopefully they ease off as you near the end of the first trimester!

@Peedthebed ahhhhh of course. Leave it to DHs to succumb to some ailment just at the right time in the fertile window 🙄😂 Could he not….take one for the team? 👀😁

Morning everyone! @SophieP89 I know how you feel, it's really frustrating. Had another BFN this morning.

@CasualOverthinker fingers crossed for you! And you make such a good point actually about different dates from last pregnancy. I think my expectations were kind of spoilt because I tested positive at 11dpo last time, our first proper month of trying (when I was actually ovulating, not a week before my period like when we very first started TTC 😂). I was kind of like well I didn't expect it last time but it just happened...? But then actually my DS's original due date was the 27th of the month, then got moved forwards to the 20th when I had my scans. So I wonder if I was actually 11dpo...

Thinking to use OPKs next month, I bought some and misplaced them and am a newbie at that too.

@Mortima it's so grim isn't it, you poor thing! Hope it all passes soon ❤️ no one tells us about these moments!

@Peedthebed oh how annoying, he can't help it at all but ofc you're frustrated!

I saw something recently which I'll mangle but it said cycles are only weeks apart, not years. If it's not your month this time around, it could be next month and that only makes a difference of a few weeks to a pregnancy and what your due date would have been. (Mangled I know - and huge caveat that it's not of great comfort for anyone who has had issues conceiving for years, but it did help me with some perspective on taking it month by month)

Oh my god!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 So happy for you that's amazing!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I would frame that 😂🤗

Mortima · 23/07/2026 11:53

@CasualOverthinker Yay! So exciting to see it on a digital - do you feel more reassured now? Congrats Flowers!

@Peedthebed So annoying about your DH - the perils of TTC this time around is that bugs/illnesses are so much more common when you have a germ magnet toddler. Maybe he'll rally before the end of your window 🤞

@beeble347 Thankyou - I actually think it's the anti-sickness meds I have (Xonvea), which has helped with the nausea but is causing havoc with my digestive system So sorry about your BFN - when is AF due?

CasualOverthinker · 23/07/2026 12:00

Thank you, girls. To be totally honest, I am in disbelief. 🫢 A bit between “is this real?” , “eeeek so exciting” and “OMG what have we done”. Haven’t told DH yet, he is at work so probably tonight. I think he has absolutely no idea it could have happened so quickly! 🙈

@CasualOverthinker awww yayyyy! Fantastic to see, so pleased for you 🥰

beeble347 · 23/07/2026 16:55

@Mortima ah hell, there's always some kind of trade-off isn't there! Really glad you've been able to access Xonvea at least.

And thank you, AF due Saturday which is also when my brother is coming to stay for a week. I thought it would be a good distraction to time them together assuming this month didn't go well

Congratulations 🩷🩵

Agathapoirot · 24/07/2026 06:06

Congrats!!

I convinced myself there were shadows on my test strips yesterday and especially last night. Took a super early early digital and it’s negative so at 11 dpo that’s me out!

CasualOverthinker · 24/07/2026 07:21

Girls, I’m worried there’s no progression. I did another FRER this morning and it’s maybe the same as yesterday morning? I can’t see any progression on that test… :( Do we think that looks like a chemical pregnancy?

It might be just where the hgc levels double every other day so progression 2 days in a show may not be obvious

Agathapoirot · 24/07/2026 08:09

HCG doubles every 48 hours and that looks like a good strong line to me. The fact you got 1-2 weeks on a digital is a good sign too. I know it’s hard, but I think now you know you are pregnant, you need to step back from the tests for a few days and see what happens.

beeble347 · 24/07/2026 08:44

Had this this morning. AF due tomorrow so I'll keep testing but I could see a VFL (actually hard to pick it up at all in the photos). It was easier to see IRL but still definitely not the kind of line you'd say is a definite positive. Not completely out for this month though hopefully?
