Anyone TTC number 2 in your mid-30s and fancy company?

Anyone else TTC number 2 in their mid-30s and fancy some company? 😊

I’m 35, have a DD who is just about to turn 4, and we’ve just started our first cycle trying for number 2.

I feel like we’d just reached the glorious stage of proper sleep, no nappies, actual conversations and being able to leave the house without half of the house crammed into a changing bag… so naturally I decided what our lives really need is a newborn 😂

I went very Type A when TTC my DD and turned the whole thing into a project - LH strips, BBT, supplements, special lube, the works 🙈 This time I’m trying very hard to be more relaxed and go with the flow. Trying being the operative word 😂

Would love some company from anyone in a similar boat: TTC number 2, mid-30s, slightly excited, slightly questioning their own sanity and trying not to symptom spot at 2DPO 😂

PS. Currently on cycle 1 and my fertile window is just about closing, so now entering the very calm and rational part where I definitely won’t analyse every bodily sensation for the next two weeks 😂🙈

Im 37, ntnp for my 4th partners 2nd. Was convinced I fell pregnant this cycle, superdrug own brand gave me false positives. But going back on an app I used to keep track of ovulation (came of the pill a few weeks a go so more to see if cycles are regular) I miss calculated my dpo, im in fact 7dpo not the 9 or 10 I thought i was. So guess theres still a chance this month. Been feeling pretty sick since friday which is super early if I am. If its not pregnancy related its probably my acid reflux

Hi, think I've found my funny but also quite neurotic people! 🤗 I'm 34 (as of today), about to enter the TWW our first cycle TTC our second. Toddler is almost 17 mo. Still doesn't sleep through the night and still breastfeeding but who doesn't love a challenge!

We conceived our toddler on the first real cycle of trying (technically started TTC a week before my period was due the month before because I had no idea what I was doing 😂), I was 31 almost 32 at the time so part of me just assumes the same thing would happen this time? I tested at 11dpo last time and got a positive but I want to try and hold out until my period is due this month (25th). Or as near as possible!

We did want to start TTC sooner but I had some autoimmune health issues I had to sort out first. And like some PP I'm now planning as if I have any control over the situation - if we conceived this month baby would be due early April, I've already looked at when I would prob go on mat leave planning around school holidays and how that would affect my exam groups' exams 🤡 as well as what it would mean for funded nursery hours. Oh to live a day in someone else's chilled out brain!

Anyway I might have a better chance of not testing until my period is due this time because 1. I now have a chaotic toddler and 2. I think I know where the pregnancy tests are but I'm too busy to look for them and making sure it stays that way until nearer the time.

I did order ovulation tests this time but didn't bother when I realised it suggested testing with your second wee of the day or something, so I'd either be at work or trying to prevent toddler doing something diabolical in the bathroom at the same time!

I’m somewhere around 4–5DPO, based on the highly scientific combination of vibes and Flo’s prediction 😂🙃

I know I’m going to be beyond tempted to test this weekend, but I also don’t particularly fancy disappointing myself and ruining my own mood for the entire weekend over a test I’ve taken far too early 😂

Someone please remind me to use OPKs, BBT or frankly both next cycle so we’re not playing this ridiculous ovulation guessing game again. It’s actually starting to piss me off 😂🙈

I was telling my husband last night that if this isn’t our month, we need to really lock in next cycle. He looked genuinely confused and went “wait… what happened to going with the flow, taking it easy, if it happens it happens?” 😂
Yeah no. That was the old me. Two weeks ago. I was young and naïve back then. 🫠

Edited

Lol totally get you re your DH! I want to be sexy fun wife but also are we trying or are we trying? 😂

Orchid887 · 14/07/2026 20:25

@beeble347- I think "quite neurotic" is fair judging by the amount of things I have peed on over the past two days.

Having a chaotic tiny human doesn't seem to have held me back. At all. 😂

But welcome and good luck!

Orchid887 · 14/07/2026 20:32

Weird one here. The one step cheapies, and the pink dye clear blue ultra early advanced are both showing positives but my FRER is barely a squinter. Can't even get a photo of it! The others are a decent line for 10dpo equivalent. My CB and FRER for comparison! Both tested with the same sample.

I can definitely see the line on the FRER fairly easily 👍🥹
It can be so frustrating when some tests aren't as clear as others x

Honestly, I can see a faint line on both - I would test again tomorrow morning and hopefully you'll see a clearer line

I'm unsure whether to be elated, or anxious that it'll just fade away. I am going to put the tests down and rehydrate now though. Too much peeing!

Thank you everyone! I'll update in a couple days.

Happy birthday!! 🥳🥰 And welcome, “funny but also quite neurotic” is basically the official thread description at this point 😂🙈

Oh I completely relate to assuming it should happen the same way as last time! I got pregnant pretty quickly with my DD too and although I logically know that means absolutely nothing for this time, my brain has apparently decided it’s a service level agreement 😂

Also you’ve already calculated mat leave around school holidays, exam groups AND funded nursery hours 🤣 I salute you. I was telling myself “if it happens, it happens” approximately two weeks ago and I’ve already worked out potential due dates. We cannot be helped. 🫣

Really hope you get another first cycle positive 🤞🥰 Looks like a few of us are due around the 24th/25th too, so we’re all entering the madness together 😂

Welcome! 😊 I can completely understand why 10 months feels especially frustrating when your first was conceived on cycle 1 ❤️ Really hoping this is your month 🤞

But 2DPO and already wondering if it’s too early to test 🤣🤣 Oh you are absolutely in the right thread. Come in, take a seat. There is no chill here 😂🙈
For the record, yes. It is definitely too early.
Will any of us stop you? Absolutely not 😂

Try for cautiously optimistic 🤞🏻🩷 We’re all super invested and rooting for a blazing non-squinting positive in a day or two!!!

Cautiously optimistic for you @Orchid887 - I can see the FRER line clearly - it is faint, but it is still early! Have you told your OH?

Welcome @beeble347, hope you get another hole in one, so to speak! I also can't help but obsess about potential due dates, and the pros and cons...so many facots to consider! I just try and to the ovulation tests roughly mid-morning and not first thing, but it could be more like midday by the time I remembered.

@ThisNoisyLemur love the optimism 😂i think I'm 9PO now and in definite testing territory. I feel quite nervous about the result either way at the moment, so that's holding me off acting on it for now...

Is anyone else's partner on a different planet with this stuff? This morning my DH casually mentioned a whole list of things we would need to do before I get pregnant...whereas I'd been using all my willpower not to test as it's only 6DPO Confused

Hahahaha not him casually discussing what you need to do “before you get pregnant” while you’re at 6DPO fighting for your life not to test 😂😂 Bless them, they’re just on a completely different TTC timezone.

Mine is blissfully unaware of when we actually need to lock in a DTD 😂 He seems to think it’s just whenever he fancies it, which is adorable. Sir, there is a schedule. You haven’t been given access to the dashboard, but please trust that senior management has a plan 🙈😂

Absolute...mine is on about us getting matching tattoos this summer...I've made some non-committal noises, thinking mine might have to wait a while!

wfcats · 15/07/2026 11:24

@CasualOverthinkerit really is a different timezone! Dying laughing at the senior management schedule. Mine clearly doesn't believe me that there are only a few days in the month you can get pregnant, he still subscribes to the 'have sex once and you'll get pregnant and die' lore we were all taught at school. The first month we were sort of trying we had sex on a random day nowhere near ovulation and immediately after he said 'right well here we go again, that's you pregnant' - I think he thinks he has magic sperm after our first was conceived so quickly. How are you dealing with waiting to test? I just checked and I have three Internet cheapies and one clearblue which should be more than enough in theory but..

@Mortimahaha I'm so glad it's not just me, mine was talking about us going camping next year and I had to be like oh yes lovely whilst thinking NOT WITH A NEWBORN! I wish we could be as relaxed as they are - and I also wish they never get to see inside our heads and understand how truly psychotic we are.

Peedthebed · 15/07/2026 12:35

Can anyone recommend a thermometer? I had one when ttc my first but it felt like it took absolutely forever and I gave up on it after about 3 days. this time round I’ll be trying to lie still in bed whilst watching my toddler trash their room so best for it to be as quick as possible! I don’t want to spend a fortune because I’m still being casual…🫣

Yes! The other day in the fertile window, mine had a toothache so we couldn't DTD and he apparently didn't want to take painkillers. I don't think my face was as silent as I thought 😂

Mortima · 15/07/2026 13:44

@Peedthebed I got this one last time - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0842Q3W7T?th=1 I think it takes about 60 seconds? I haven't bothered with it yet this time around, and feel vaguely nostalgic for the days where I could lounge in bed taking my temp, after waking naturally (or even from an alarm clock!)

@wfcats Camping 😂bless him. Just nod and smile...

I'd quite to do a poll to help me decide when to test!

Option 1 - Saturday (12DPO)
Pros: Taking DH out for a surprise meal at our face local restaurant, babysitter arranged, so if positive it would bring a nice sense of occasion to telling him. If negative, I can enjoy a few beers guilt-free.

Cons: Small restaurant, so not a private place for an intimate moment. I'm already a bit anxious about the whole babysitter thing and the nerves might send me over the edge. Good chance of an accurate result but not 100%.

Option 2 - Sunday (13DPO) - AF due
Pros: DH's actual birthday, so also a nice time to tell him. More chance of an accurate test.

Cons: Less exciting to do it at home with toddler running around all over the shop; might be a slight bummer on the day if it's negative (for me, not him, as I'm not going to tell him it's time to test and I think he's quite oblivious).

CasualOverthinker · 15/07/2026 13:54

Bahahahah 😄 I love that all the DHs are just so blissfully ignorant 😂
I am God knows what DPO today. I’m absolutely kicking myself for tracking ovulation in no reliable way whatsoever 🙃 I’m going with 6DPO based on my app’s prediction, but really only God and possibly my ovaries know.
On one hand, I’m convinced we completely botched the timing and don’t stand a chance this cycle. On the other, I’m absolutely desperate to test. Make it make sense 😂
I’ve told myself not before Friday at the absolute earliest, and even that is frankly feral behaviour. My next period is predicted for the 24th and Flo is usually accurate within +/- a day. Pre-TTC me thought “wow, that’s basically spot on!” Current me is like… PLUS OR MINUS A DAY?! THAT’S A WHOLE 48-HOUR WINDOW. WHAT HAVE I DONE?! 😭😂
I deeply regret my brief and ill-advised chill era.

12DPO gets my vote! 🙋‍♀️😂 Mostly because I am a sucker for the potential lovely dinner reveal, but also 12DPO feels positively restrained by the standards of this thread 🤣 And if it’s negative… beers. I see no flaws in this plan 😂
