Undecided about what spelling to go with. Our baby (due in 2 weeks) will be known as 'Katy' but want the full name on the certificate.
Sorry for the banality of this post but just wanted to hear the general consensus.

I prefer Catherine but if you want Katy then I can see why a K makes more sense. I would go for Katherine or Katharine.

piscesmoon · 09/05/2010 14:53

Katherine-otherwise she will have a lifetime of spelling it or people getting it wrong. Katherine is classic -Kathryn will date.

Bumbleconfusus · 09/05/2010 14:40

Kathryn is much better, I know a couple and they are sooo lovely.

qumquat · 09/05/2010 14:35

Katherine or Katharine

mathanxiety · 08/05/2010 21:17

I like Kathryn -- weirdly enough, 6 of the 8 girls I know with this name spell it this way.

CarmelitaMiggs · 08/05/2010 21:15

I've got a Katharine, named after a Scottish great-aunt

Fimbo · 08/05/2010 21:04

I like the Kathryn spelling, it is my cousin's name, she was named after my gran, Catherine who's nickname was Kitty!

florencerusty · 08/05/2010 20:55

I'm Kathryn

You only hae to spell it once for most people - the line to use is Kathryn with a K and a Y

bellissima · 08/05/2010 16:48

Okay - on reflection 'common' a bit harsh - I don't like it when the 'ch' word is used on here, of any name, so I shouldn't use that term. My only excuse is that I have suffered over the years from a 'yn' ending being applied to my name - and it's really irritating!

(Anyway the jury seems to agree)

PollyTicks · 08/05/2010 14:18

Catherine is the classic spelling for me.

Anything but Kathryn

5DollarShake · 08/05/2010 14:11

Definitely Catherine for me. If you're dead set on on the K spelling, then Katherine...

Bicnod · 08/05/2010 12:38

Katherine.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/05/2010 12:36

Katherine.

nickelbabe · 08/05/2010 12:23

Tidey · 08/05/2010 12:01

Katherine or Catherine.

FranSanDisco · 08/05/2010 11:59

Not Kathryn but any of the others. Knew a nasty Kathryn who used to announce to everyone she was americaan aas though that made her a celebrity. Vile child.

juneybean · 08/05/2010 11:52

I prefer Catherine to be honest... but Katherine otherwise!

ShowOfHands · 08/05/2010 11:51

Oh Katharine, absolutely.

rachel234 · 08/05/2010 11:49
