Tate or Seth?

Gah. I thought we had decided on a boys name - Tate - but now i'm not so sure, I like it well enough, but i also really like Seth.

Middle name will be Elijah. Not sure if Seth Elijah is too biblical or not...

Thoughts please...

Tate is lovely.

Don't like Seth at all.

jlo1234 · 03/11/2009 20:54

i like tate

LynetteScavo · 02/11/2009 12:14

Tate is so much better than Seth.

Pleas, please stick with Tate Elijah.

cupcakesinthesnow · 02/11/2009 12:13

Love both of these names and can't possibly decided between the two! IN fact, now I want another little boy so as I can name them one of these names

sonniebonnie · 02/11/2009 12:07

Tate is lovely - very classy and masculine!

I really don't like Seth at all, it sounds very American to me.

Spatz · 02/11/2009 12:05

Seth is nicer, in my view.

I know two brothers called Seth and Tate. Coincidence?

WowOoo · 02/11/2009 12:04

Love Tate. love it love it love it!

Annabelsmummie · 02/11/2009 12:02

Bear in mind that Seth will be unpronouncable to anyone not English speaking...... as most languages don't have the 'th' sound!

That may or may not bother you, of course.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/11/2009 08:19

I love Seth. I dont think that Elijah as a middle name flows well with e2ither of your choices though. They both sound better with the longer name first and the shorter in the middle. Maybe Elijah is just one of those names that is better as a first name? It's a nice name though!

I wanted Seth for DS, DH had none of it.

QueenMercury · 02/11/2009 08:12

Seth is a lovely name!

bodycolder · 02/11/2009 07:31

seth ds best friends name and he's lovely

ScummyMummy · 02/11/2009 07:28

Seth is a great name. Not keen on Tate, tbh.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/11/2009 07:13

Not Tate; thought of the Tate gallery on reading that initially. Is that really a consideration for a boy's name?.

seeker · 02/11/2009 07:04

Please don't use Seth if you live in Kent. Unless you're happy with him being Seff to practically everyone!

One of my ds's best friends is called Ethan - ds has to be reminded even now that it's not spelled Efan.........

Deemented · 02/11/2009 06:50

Thanks for all your imput - much appreciated.

Elijah is DP's input into the name thing - he said i can choose what i'd like DC to be called, as long as he could have Elijah in there somewhere - and that's presuming it's a boy. We have a girls name sorted.

I'm kinda leaning towards Seth a bit more now, i have to admit!

Tate Elijah is too like "Tate & Lyle". Seth Elijah is better.

JANEITEluddite · 31/10/2009 23:20

Sorry - I think they are both terrible. But Elijah is nice.

cheeseandeyeballsarnie · 31/10/2009 23:19

yay to seth nay to tate.why elijah as a mn?why not first?

ICouldHaveWrittenThis · 31/10/2009 23:17

I WISH I could have these names for theoretical DS2, but DP would veto

Yes, Seth reminds me of cold comfort farm, it's an excellent name. Elijah is in my top 10. Reuben is also a possibility.

I've always loved Tate - have you seen the film Little Man Tate? It won't put you off, you'll love it if you like this name

bellissima · 31/10/2009 23:14

Seth.

And Heated - my mother had a Cold Comfort Farm name discussion with a friend way back in the 60s and she (the friend) did end up naming her DS- Ruben.

Ronaldinhio · 31/10/2009 20:01

both Emmerdale names.....

LetThereBeRock · 31/10/2009 20:00

I love Seth.

FreeTheGuidoOne · 31/10/2009 19:36

Seth is a brilliant name. If I am ever lucky enough to have a boy, he will be Seth.

pranma · 31/10/2009 19:36

'Tate Elijah I want to go home...'sounds like the chorus of that song!Seth is nice as is Tate without the Elijah.
