What do you think of Dulcie as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Is a popular spanish name also, meaning sweet.

JoeyBettany · 25/10/2009 18:34

Is it short for 'Dulcimer'?

I think it's the name of the baby in 'At the Back of the North Wind'.

I went to school with a girl called Dulcie. She was quite posh! We called her Dulc (dulse) for short it never occurred to call her Dull. I only thought of it now as you forced me to think of the nickname potential. Can't think of a nickname for Darcy...

I think it's a good name - quite cute but still a proper strong name too.

Sorry, was my Grandad's guide dog's name!

MaggieEsLaMejorBruja · 23/10/2009 17:29

I love it! I wonder if it's the new Esme.. it has that vibe. I prefer it to Esme though

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 14:18

I love it too.

Dislike 'dul' part. Reminds me of the Wilfred Owen Poem too.

pollyperkins · 23/10/2009 13:58

It's very beautiful indeed IMO

Not sure about Dulcie, think of the nickname potential?

Really like Darcy, but again - think of the nickname potential

RainRainGoAway · 23/10/2009 13:57

I love love love it- i was convinced i was having a girl because I wanted to call her Dulcie so much. But I'm expecting a boy,so now i have to think of boy's names that go nicely with Dulcie so i can use it for when I do have a girl

i love it.

Is it pronounced "dulchy" or "dulsee"?

I prefer the former pronunciation, though I'm not mad about the name tbh. It's nice but reminds me of pudding.

Abubu · 23/10/2009 12:16

I used to know someone called Dulcie and I really didn't get on with her at all.

For that reason it has been tainted for me.

She was very posh by the way.

Salonly · 22/10/2009 21:16

I think it's lovely!

PumpkinJuice · 22/10/2009 21:15

Lovely.

SarfEasticated · 12/10/2009 21:14

I only know of Darcey Bussell who is prima ballerina so must be posh. That's where I got my theory from - and I'm sticking to it...

theagedparent · 12/10/2009 21:13

Dulcie is a beautiful name. I know a 5 year old Dulcie and she is gorgeous.

WinkyWinkola · 12/10/2009 21:13

Tommy · 12/10/2009 21:12
