It's a sweet nick name.
I love the character Little Ragged Blossom in the children's book by May Gibbs, The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

So maybe a second name but better as a nick name.

What did you pick.

I love Blossom and I'm in England, so maybe it is different here.

I'm considering Poppy, but would actually prefer Blossom.

And yes, I can imagine it for a 40 year old woman.

She picked Lily and Lily is now 15 years old. HTH.

I love the name blossom it’s on my list and has been for a while! X

Gracie Blossom is WAY too close to Gracie Fields.

I wouldn't use either name.

What about Fleur or Flora?

when i was jail bait, this is what builders used to leer at me. so can't say it'd be my first choice, no

BannyFucket · 12/10/2009 21:16

Urgh, no.

I remember the programme too. God, she was annoying!

200yearoldhorsehair · 12/10/2009 21:15

I think Blossom Grace is the fabbest name ever for a person.
Ever.
(I am v. v.biased)

Marioandluigi · 11/10/2009 10:38

Is your surname Hill?

I think Fleur is nicer, but I like Blossom as a middle name (but not with Fleur )

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 11/10/2009 07:55

Fab name for a pony or a cow but if I met someone called Blossom I would be forever hearing mooing or neighing in my head each time I met them as to me it will always be an animal's name, not for a human.

seeker · 11/10/2009 07:46

Of course you can be taken seriously whatever you are called. It's just harder if you're called something really fluffy, and why make things harder for your child than they need to be? We need to help our daughters be powerful, strong, assertive women, not hinder them!

And there are hundreds of wonderful, unusual names out there to choose from!

starwhoreswonaprize · 11/10/2009 07:37

What most people are saying OP is that you can't be called Blossom if you want to be taken seriously, you need a name like Pat, Jane or something. What a load of crap!

A person shapes their future not a name.

seeker · 11/10/2009 07:34

The other test is how does it sound in a broad Yorkshire accent. A lot of names we liked were rules out by how it would sound in Bradford!

Lovely. Not all names are shortened.

notagrannyyet · 11/10/2009 06:39

Well I don't hate it.

But I had a book when I was little and the 2 cows were called Buttercup, and Blossom. There was a horse called Dobbin too. I'm very old and I'm sure the book is long out of print.....So don't let that put you off.

thinkthisisreasonable · 11/10/2009 02:30

like it for a little girl in a cute flowery dress, but wouldn't fancy it for myself as an adult trying to be taken seriously tbh

Fibilou · 11/10/2009 02:22

Hate it !

pranma · 07/10/2009 18:42

nice nickname but maybe a flower name for 'best'

GoldenSnitch · 07/10/2009 18:03

Still laughing at Fruitstick's My Little Pony comment

I think if you hear and name and immediately say "Ah, that's so cute" you should automatically dismiss it as it'll sound silly the moment she hits 18.

Try to imagine it on an adult...

jamandjerusalem · 07/10/2009 17:45

I like it. Blossom Dearie is one of my favourite singers - that was her real name too.

Purplebuns · 07/10/2009 16:28

I named my dd Sophie Rose, flowery sweet but not over the top imo, everyone loves it so far
