I like it. You could consider Bianca if you don't like the associations other posters have mentioned.

womma · 17/10/2009 14:10

Love it

RunningGirl · 11/10/2009 20:02

Oh Blanche, stop blubbering
(Grease)

RainRainGoAway · 11/10/2009 16:39

In many ways, it is great, but agree with Remy. Blanche from golden girls was such a letchy old lady with shoulder pads and a penchant for pastels that I would be loathe to use it.

PoppyIsApain · 11/10/2009 16:34

Oh please dont do this to your dd

Bumperlicioso · 11/10/2009 16:29

No - ditto confushias.

I think elegant 1920s ladies drinking martinis in cocktail dresses.

Kayzr · 11/10/2009 11:36

Sorry but I also think of Corrie.

slipperthief · 11/10/2009 11:35

old old old lady name

ConFuschias · 11/10/2009 11:34

I'm not a fan either. Makes me think of blanching potatoes

bess23 · 11/10/2009 11:32

Sorry don't like it

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 11/10/2009 11:16

Disasterous- blanche from corro, general whinging old ladies etc.

Marioandluigi · 11/10/2009 11:07

It reminds me of Blamange, and of Corrie

A baby owl, whose name was Blanche
Perched bravely on a narrow branch
And wondered whether she should try
To jump up and attempt to fly...

She bravely counted up to ten
And then, she counted ten again
She jumped! She found she couldn't fly
And lay there, looking at the sky

"It's lucky that that branch", said she
"was on the ground, and not the tree."

Then off she ran and flapped her wings
And said "These are most awkward things
"For though I skip and jump quite high
"I'm still no nearer to the sky..."

And falling down, she gave a howl
And wished she'd never been an owl.
And finally her mother found her
And put a great big wing around her
And said "Dear Blanche, don't be upset!
You haven't grown your feathers yet."

LynetteScavo · 11/10/2009 10:50

Not to my liking. Sorry.

purepurple · 11/10/2009 10:49

Sorry, not keen.
I can't get past Blanche from Corrie.

FlamingoBingo · 11/10/2009 10:48

I love it - it's a family name in my family. Wish I'd thought of it. Oh well, just have to have another daugher now

thedollshouse · 11/10/2009 10:47

No no no! Blanche on coronation street is a miserable old hag, you have to wait for them to kill of her character first.

Also think it sounds quite harsh, not pretty imo.

Fibilou · 11/10/2009 10:44

I adore the name Blanche, very 1920s I think. Reminds me of Blanche Ingram in Jane Eyre

cheesesarnie · 26/09/2009 23:00

i think it depends on accent as well actually.in some accents it sounds quite nice.in some it doesnt.

skihorse · 26/09/2009 22:57

At least you won't need to worry about her going to grammar school as she'll be a Vegas showgirl, non?

LaDiDaDi · 26/09/2009 22:55

I don't like it, makes me think of blanching veg.

BelleWatling · 26/09/2009 22:50

Love it!

"I am Blanche DuBois. It means "White Woods." (southern accent)

It was on my list. DH turned his nose up.

RemyMartin · 26/09/2009 22:49

It reminds me of Golden Girls
