For dc 2.
Thought I'd throw in some more girls names from our shortlist for you to judge.

Boudica reactions were so mixed.

What do you think of these names and do you know any people with these names.

Clemency is lovely, Pomona is just ugly to my ears.

pranma · 29/09/2009 22:28

Susan Hill the writer has a daughter called Clemency I think it is very pretty and has such a lovely meaning-mercy

daisymaybe · 29/09/2009 21:49

Paloma?

smother · 29/09/2009 13:38

I think Clem is lovely! not sure about Clemency though, I prefer Clementine personally, but Clemency could be a grower..... Pomona is a no-no though for all the reasons above!

MrsBadger · 29/09/2009 08:48

re death row, tis no worse as a name than Mercy or Charity (know one of each)

GrendelsMum · 28/09/2009 21:32

Could you go French and call her Clemence?

foxytocin · 28/09/2009 21:32

Pomona is an large farming town in California.

Clemency is something granted to people who have previously been on death row.

no no and no.

randomimposter · 28/09/2009 21:29

really like Clemency
was at school with one a MILLION years ago

is my first choice for a girl's name
Clemency Grace

though am a BIT concerned that Clem sounds a bit like phlegm, and Clemmie like clammy....

mopsyflopsy · 28/09/2009 13:03

How about Pamela?

Lizzylou · 28/09/2009 13:01

For some reason both names make me think of pears.

I know a Clementine (another fruity name), but not keen on those two names, sorry.

gagamama · 28/09/2009 12:56

Pomona Mary Embolism is nice.

peanutbutterkid · 28/09/2009 11:33

Ramona is a satellite town of San Diego. Shotgun rack in the back of every third pickup (so upmarket compared to the next nearest towns).

Boudica is better.
Would you like
Philomena, Diana, Ariana, Clarissa?

Did OP really call an existing child Charles? Why not choose a name that kind of goes with Charles, okay, so not Diana, but Clarissa or Victoria, maybe?

BitOfFun · 28/09/2009 11:27

Pomona is quite a rough area of California, and Clemency is what Death Row prisoners apply for, so together the two names make me think of a knuckly gang member in blood-stained bandana. Not a nice association.

BonsoirAnna · 28/09/2009 11:21

Pomona is a massive French food distribution company.

curlyredhead · 28/09/2009 11:19

Are you a Forest/Brent-Dyer fan? Only place I've come across those names!

I quite like Clemency, with Clem/Clemmie for short. How would you pronounce it? CLEM-ency or Cle-MENCy. Not sure about Pomona....

VintageGardenia · 28/09/2009 11:19

Pomona reminds me of character in the Kingscote school books, I think they called her Pippin.

I think Clemency, Clem and Clemmie are all pretty but for a classical name Pomona is strangely unattractive.

MrsBadger · 28/09/2009 11:15

Pomona too Moany for me

I knew a Clemency and a Clementine - one Clem, one Clemmie.

GetOrfMoiLand · 28/09/2009 11:01

Pomona sounds like a skin condition. Paloma or Ramona sound a lot better.

Clemency very nice.

lucky1979 · 28/09/2009 10:58

Pomona sounds like an air freshner.

HarrietTheSpy · 27/09/2009 23:36

Pomona College - based in California. No, don't.

mopsyflopsy · 27/09/2009 21:33

I like Clemency.

Don't really like Pomona, especially the Po bit - just doesn't sound feminine/elegant. I quite like Paloma though.

moondog · 24/09/2009 13:40

Pomona sounds like a brand of air freshener.

suwoo · 24/09/2009 13:39

Paloma is gorgeous as is Salome. Pomona, not so.
I like Clemency though but I think it is a 'big' name.

UnrequitedSkink · 24/09/2009 13:30

Paloma nice, Pomona friggin awful. Sorry. I do think Clemency is quite sweet though.
