DH and I both really love the name Verity for a girl. DH is concerned that it would get shortened to Vez though when she reached school age. I think Vez sounds terrible. Do you think people/kids would shorten it? (I'm Australian where everything is shortened or renamed!!!)

Thanks, I didn't think about Vey or Tee as alternatives actually. I do agree about the nickname thing though, that's why I'm struggling.

Love it. Vez sounds qquite far away from it, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Names get shortened in every culture. Never pick a name that has nicknames you can't stand. Why wouldn't the nickname be Vey or Tee, though? Would those be more tolerable?
