Denial is not a river in Egypt.
Dh and I are coming from very different places
Me - Gabriel, Xaviere, Christian, Fabian
Dh - Robert, John, Garry, Lee

It just ain't going to happen is it? Can anybody think of something? Anything? Our other two are Alexandra and Theo.

HI guys sorry thought I'd lost this thread and have started a new one. Thanks so much for all your suggestions, we've gone for Angus, nickname Gus - quite different to Gabriel, which I'd still go for, but I'm not allowed, killjoy dh. Off to start a new thread about sleep deprivation.

Any decisions made in the baskingseals household?

What about...

Abe
Declan
Saul
Sol/Solomon

I love Gabriel too, but my DH says much the same as yours.

diddl · 10/09/2009 08:39

Has a decision been made yet baskingseals?

lola0109 · 03/09/2009 21:22

How about Levi or Ellis?

TwoPersephone · 03/09/2009 16:56

Gregor

Littledawley · 02/09/2009 19:40

I know someone who wanted to call her son Emile and her DH wanted to call him George. As far as I now they just kept using the name of their choice until one of them caved!!

I thought you had decided - Patrick!

Anya4 · 02/09/2009 18:26

I can barely stand the suspense......how will it turn out ?!! Some watch Eastenders for drama, but we have it all on MN !

Doctorskidaddle · 02/09/2009 13:51

haha glad you like my suggestion basking - has your DH packed his bags yet?

In all seriousness we called DS a name which was a pretty big compromise for both of us (Milo) and I still don't feel like it's his name properly (he's 20 months). I still yearn for my Noah/Gabriel/whatever else I wanted to call him and DH vetoed! We also took FIVE weeks to register his birth because we couldn't agree. Not sure what my point is - just that I understand how hard it is to call your child a name you don't love, and even if it takes another fortnight maybe it's worth waiting until you manage to find a name you can both be happy with, if you can - good luck

logi · 31/08/2009 16:28

fabian is lovely,i prefer your choices.

baskingseals · 31/08/2009 14:56

Hi guys, just to say that DS2 is now over 2 weeks old and we still haven't chosen a name, but will let you know when we do.

zanz1bar, you are forgiven, of course. I think we both know I'm on a hiding to nothing, so nothing new there really. Dh seems to think we've decided on Finn, there you go job done. I don't fink so.

zanz1bar · 28/08/2009 21:49

And agree with you about Finn, didn't sound right.

zanz1bar · 28/08/2009 21:47

baskingseals At last I have found you.
Baby is gorgeous and sorry I couldn't back you up on gabriel, but you know my brother preferred people to think his middle name was geoffrey than admit it was Gabriel.
But then hey he might just cave in for a quiet life?
x

baskingseals · 28/08/2009 21:43

nHi guys, doctorski - I think you've cracked it, why didn't I think of that before? It's the obvious solution. Dh has simply got to go. I can trot off to the registry office singing Gabriel, Gabriel all the way. I think the real reason we still haven't done the deed, is that I still think I can win him round - but as time goes on I just think I'm deluding myself. I have tried calling him Finn today, didn't sound awful, but didn't sound particularly right either. Will let you know, when finally resolved, thanks again for all your suggestions, sorry it's taking us so bloody long.

How about Kier? Pronounced like the first half of Kieran. Or Hugh?

I love Gabriel - it was on my list for all three of mine. Don't see how it can be any more challenging than Theo! Not that Theo is challenging iyswim, just that they are in similar genre of names, imo.

I like Benedict and your DH can call him Ben if he's a real traditionalist.

wheniwishuponastar · 28/08/2009 16:40

i know a gabriel who is in his thirties. its ok, its suits him, but it is a bit of an over-the-top name. maybe it won't be by the time yours is grown, who knows...

diddl · 28/08/2009 16:26

LOL at Doctorskidaddle!
It´s a plan, though...!

Doctorskidaddle · 28/08/2009 15:51

og god I can't stand it, please tell me you've decided! FWIW I think you have great taste in names and your DH's is awful. Hmm there's a thought, call him Gabriel and swap your DH for a new one??

kitsmummy · 27/08/2009 22:57

It has to be Kit
Love, Kitsmummy!

Maj1 · 27/08/2009 22:35

We had loads of trouble deciding on girls names. Decided that there are hundreds of thousands of names out there, there was bound to be one we would both like! took yonks and ended up with two boys! Finn is nice but in Ireland we use Fionn (fee-un? pronounced "Fee-yown" in Munster Irish) which is much nicer. Famous warrior and would really suit if baby is blonde.

baskingseals · 27/08/2009 21:57

According to dh he will hate us forever if we call him Gabriel. I've really got to let it go with both hands, so hard as I still think it's the most perfect name ever. Finn seems to be the one we are compromising on atm. But nothing definite - oh well we've still got 4 weeks.
Thanks so much for all your help - and it has helped - will let you know when we finally commit, god knows how we ever managed to get married.
