I have some fantastic news.....my friend is heavily pregnant and asked me to choose the baby's name. We don't know the sex of the baby. I have a few names for each sex and would be grateful if you could narrow down two favourites, one girls name and one boys name from the lists below.

GIRLS jasmine cassie harriet dionne miranda BOYS
elliot
demetrio
thomas
cody
saul
george

Hi everyone, thanks for all your replies and a special thanks to Gwenick for the wonderful score boards!!!

Cod, no this is not a made up thread. My friend has been my friend for a very long time and must trust me very much. I was feeling a little down about not conceiving myself, so perhaps thats why shy gave me the special privilege, but perhaps she just loves me

I have a completely free rein on the names, she says she trusts my judgement and knows I wouldn't name the baby something daft that it would have to live for all it's life!

Cod - how dare u laugh at my choice of names. Cody is very popular in the USA and Demetrio is an italian name taken from Demitri. We all have different tastes and I might not like what your kids are called, but I would not be so ignorant to laugh out loud on a public board at them Honestly, some people (rolls eyes)

Harriet or Jasmine for a girl (depends on surname) and Thomas or George for a boy.....

My husband wanted to call our DS Saxon North!!! This, from a mild mannered IT Bod!

Rachey1969 · 31/05/2005 10:24

Does it matter if this is a piss take? It's still interesting - great link Teuch!

collision · 30/05/2005 21:51

It is a huge privilege to choose a name for someone elses baby. Why did your friend ask you to do it, OliviaGrace?

Did she give you a list to choose from or have you got completely free rein on it???

Another vote for Harriet and Thomas. Don't like made up or shortened names either. But really prefer Rhiannon and Ethan.

bambino1 · 30/05/2005 20:46

I like either Jasmine or Cassie for a girl. For a boy elliot or cody.
What a huge thing for you to do. you must feel extremly special!

vickiyumyum · 30/05/2005 16:06

i'd have to go with Saul for the boy and Cassie for the girl, although have to say not really keen on any of the girls names.

really wanted to call my ds2 Saul but dh wouldn't let me, then i wanted Jasper, which dh also vetoed so ended up with William (def not a billy or a will! LOL Charlie72)

Really like his name but, everyone was shocked that we had picked a 'normal' name as ds1 called Keir!

teuch · 30/05/2005 15:48

well, it tickled me...my favourite is under Babies or Blotter Acid...the response to Summer Banner...

I don't know who the writer is but she is very funny!

I like Harriet and Elliot. I wanted Elliot for ds but he is named after my grandad. His middle name Thomas though.

teuch · 30/05/2005 13:24

hiya! just posted this on another thread so re-posting cos its fun...

came across this babyname website (satire) when I was looking - reminds us all that names are tres subjective!

It is extracts of postings from an american website (where else?) with very funny commentary...

enjoy!

Baby's named a bad thing!

ahymum · 29/05/2005 23:44

Dionne and Cody. But that is may be because Dionne is a greek name and so is mine Dionne was Aphrodite's mother - I love it!

HannahLockwood · 29/05/2005 23:12

Lol bubbles.....I misread your post and thought u said you had 3 newborn sons all called thomas....I thought, what?!?!? crazy woman lol. Imagine calling all your babies the same name. That would be bizarre!

evansmummy · 29/05/2005 21:44

Cassie and Elliot

sassy · 29/05/2005 19:05
