What about Juno? (I know, Roman, but still Classical....)

boodleboot · 12/08/2009 20:21

girl.....and no i'm not american. I thought missy was sweet and in same sort of ilk as kitty....could always be Artie as NN?

this would be so much easier if DH hadn't of vetoed Hero before....

i like greek goddess -y names....

I like it. It was on my list for little Ff, but Bloke vetoed it.

Are you thinking boy or girl? It is really a girl's name, despite the Artemis Fowl books.

tkband3 · 12/08/2009 20:12

I used to work for the company lljkk's husband was thinking of, and we parted on bad terms so it wouldn't be top of my list....

Aranea · 12/08/2009 20:12

Well, I have to admit I do rather like it for a girl, though I think the Artemis Fowl thing could be a pain. I'm less keen on Missy though! Sounds very American. But then maybe you are American in which case that would be fine... Hm, think I have a shovel with which to keep digging...

MmeLindt · 12/08/2009 20:08

Um. No, not really.

boodleboot · 12/08/2009 20:07

i was thinking girl not boy....have seen but not had exposure to the artemis fowl books but surely will be all but forgotten soon?

i was thinking girl with Missy for NN....

One of my horses is called Artemis but I certainly wouldn't inflict it on a child.

Aranea · 12/08/2009 20:04

I think there's a gender problem. It should IMO be a girl's name, being a Greek goddess and all. But there are those Artemis Fowl books about a boy named Artemis. So I suppose your child (whichever sex) may end up being told it's a name for the other sex!

lljkk · 12/08/2009 20:00

Okay, do you want a really honest opinion?
It's okay, if it floats your boat, so why not?.
But then again, why not select something a bit more CONVENTIONAL, that also floats your boat? That people will find easy to spell and will be on personalised cups in the shops and nobody will ask you to spell it or repeat it.

I just think "Artemis" is something to consider carefully....

(DH's first impression was "Fund manager", and then "Is it for a boy or a girl?")
I assumed a boy, but wasn't Artemis a goddess?

oh you as well Grammaticus

AramintaCane · 12/08/2009 19:55

I like it. However, it does make me think of young genius criminals who are out to rob the fairy world of all their gold.

Grammaticus · 12/08/2009 19:53

Fowl?
