Imagine it said with a Scottish accent

Ruth is a really plain name IMO. Miriam is smashing.

I like it. Agree with MrsB, pretty but not frilly.

We are debating Miriam or Ruth if DC5 (due Saturday) is a girl.

I was just saying to Dh last night how you don't hear of any babies called Ruth even though it's a lovely name.

MrsBadger · 12/08/2009 08:47

I like it, was on shortlist for DD

like Rachel or Helen is is pretty but not soft or frilly

MamaLazarou · 12/08/2009 08:36

No, not at all, it's lovely.

FlightHattendant · 12/08/2009 07:36

It's fine

I knew a girl at school everyone hated and sadly it tinged my view...but it's a fair enough name.

It's a shame that the word 'ruthless' has negative connotations when in fact it's the fatc there is a lack of 'ruth' int he situation that is so bad

Nope, not harsh - think it's strong and pretty.

BellaBear · 12/08/2009 07:27

it's lovely! (my middle name so a bit biased but still!)

sadiemcgrady · 12/08/2009 07:24

I just can't get past the Jasper Carrot sketch where he talks about when you've been sick and then you get to the bit where nothing is coming up and you are going 'ruuuuuuutttthhhh' - sorry, he's ruined the name for me!

I do love Scottish accents though
