DH and I love the name Gertrude, but my mum said she thinks it's awful - I said that lots of Victorian names are coming back, but mum says 'Yes, but only nice ones'. Come on, be honest - is it really an awful name? It would be Trudi for short.

I think it's lovely actually. Love Gertie as well (was that the Drew Barrymore character in ET?). Trudi is ruined for me by the Sting associations

pixiestix · 11/08/2009 13:47

Hmmm, the only Gertrude I know is a bitter, mean old bitch so it is a bit coloured for me!
Definite old lady associations.
But Trudi is really cute.

Thunderduck · 11/08/2009 13:47

It's truly horrid.

Paolosgirl · 11/08/2009 13:38

Ditto Fimbo.

Trudi makes me think of Sting's wife (can't remember her surname), so a "no" for that reason. Sorry!

Fimbo · 11/08/2009 13:34

All I can think of is Dirty Gertie from No 30.

Trudi is nice.
