Lovely name - am a baby name thread lurker usually - this one caught my interest. I am a big fan of greek names and we're considering several for our baby girl (not due for a good few months yet though so have some time!)

claireybee · 05/08/2009 13:45

Excellent! I'm secretly pleased you went for Oenone because I love it

hughsieoxf · 05/08/2009 13:36

Ooh, what a lovely name! Can I steal it and put it on my shortlist? I live in Greece and I've never heard it used over here and I'd like something unusual if dc3 is a girl (my dd is Ariadne).

oftenpurple · 04/08/2009 10:33

Ooooohhh, I love it! Huge congratulations.

hobbgoblin · 04/08/2009 10:24

Thank you all for positive response, I know it wouldn't be everyone's first choice!

Congratulations

BitOfFun · 03/08/2009 23:10

Greek!

Oenone (ēnō'nē) [key], in Greek mythology, nymph skilled in the art of healing. Paris loved her but later deserted her for Helen. Oenone, in revenge, sent their son, Corythus, to guide the Greeks to Troy. When Paris lay mortally wounded, he asked her to heal him but she refused.

SlartyBartFast · 03/08/2009 23:08

Penthesileia · 03/08/2009 23:04

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful!

Hello, Oenone Rose!

hobbgoblin · 03/08/2009 23:02

Funny!

Okay, it is Oenone Rose with both surnames (2 syllable hyphen 3 syllable)

Something of a compromise but includes a name each we both loved. I would have had Constance Plum or Kitty Constance but Constance got too many thumbs down from the 5 siblings and others and Kitty just didn't cut it as 'the' name so we started again from scratch.

Have had to give her father elocution lessons ever since 3.20 this afternoon (we registered birth at 3.30 pm) when we had the final name discussion. I think he is still practising now.

Anyway, it is ee-no-nee.
