I love this name for a little boy. I think it sounds sweet, has a great history and is unusual. DH thinks it sounds pretentious.

Opinions?

Oh Lord - I'm going to be offensive, sorry! I think it's pretentious in a intellectual-snobbery-kind of way. What my brother calls "Don's Disease". Sorry.

Why is it pretentious?

I think pretentious names are those used by the upper classes only. As far as I know Bede is very rarely used by anyone.

He was an inspirational Saint and its an old English name - I would really like to understand why its perceived as pretentious?

i think it's beautiful! you can't please everybody. there are some right dodgy monikers in my baby yoga class but their mums light up when they say them, so they clearly like them!
at least it's not obama...
