Names for twins?

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 18:17

Hi MNers,
Having twins early September -don't know the sex of the babies. This is what we've come up with:
Boy - Girl: Arthur and Daisy
Boy Boy: Arthur and Henry
Girl Girl: Daisy and Millie
Struggling with girl middle names - we like Millie Rose but not sure about Daisy Rose - a bit flowery! Boy middle names will be DH's name and my brother's name.
They will be our first DC's.

Any thoughts welcome!

Daisy Claire
Daisy Joy
Daisy Ruth

I love Arthur. What about Edmund for his twin?

Congratulations, by the way! How lovely. My Dc1 will be 6 in September.

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/07/2009 12:25

Really like Arthur & Henry - both lovely names and go very well together imho

I also like Daisy. Millie is lovely but I'm also not so keen on the lengthened versions. I've got a Matilda (Tilly) and Daisy was also on our list, as was Madeleine (Maddy) and Tessa.

Will try to think of some suggestions for boys although I alwys find them more difficult.

Arthur Joseph (love Joseph)
Arthur George
Arthur James
Arthur Lawrence
Arthur William
Arthur Benjamin

Henry James (he he)
Henry Tobias
Henry Theodore
Henry Rufus (love Rufus)
Henry Christopher

Any good? My favourites have smiley faces next to them!

jellybeans · 10/07/2009 22:29

I lik Daisy and Bella alot but not keen on Arthur,Henry and Millie. They are abit old fashioned for me but OK. Also, there are loads of Millies at the moment if that would bother you?

I like Daisy Hope
Daisy Matilda
Daisy Leona

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 21:30

Good point GYA! Maybe I will be inspired when I meet them! Great to have so many ideas now, though. I like Joseph (Jo / Joey) but both DH and I are J names (mine shortened to Jo) so too confusing! I like Tilly and Tessa too!

How exciting to have twins! I like middle names after a friend or family member. Though dd1 middle name Grace as just liked it.Dd2 middle name after my sister as she was there at the birth. Have good friend dd called Amelia but is always known as Millie so there is an option to choose names where you can shorten. I liked Henry or Joseph for boys also James Charlie Samuel and Harry and George but couldn;t have any as already taken by family! Girls v like Tilly Stella Lucie Tallulah Tess(ie/a). DD2 was all set to be Tilly but one look at her and she became Rosie.. You just don't know until you see them!

think of, not thing od.....

Thanks oooggs,
Yes, we're really excited - we've been waiting a long time for these 2!
We have a house full of flat-packed cots (why do they come in so many boxes!?)
DH likes David - would probably end up being Davey as I have a tendency to end up using names ending in 'y' - IYKWAM
James I love, but very popular round here. Not sure about Edward - would be Eddie (see above) and I would always thing od Clarrie from the Archers "Eddddddddiiiieee!"

Names go in circles so what is popular there is not here.

DS1 has a Daisy and a Milly in his class, but they are the only ones in the school. Whereas there are loads of Isabel/ Isobel/Isabelle

Depends where you live

oooggs · 10/07/2009 21:00

fantastic news - twins are great

Daisy Grace - dt1 has Grace as her middle name - would have been dt2's first name had he been a girl

Hope is nice but not with Bella

James? David? Edward?

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 20:59

Hmmmm. Thanks Gero. Lots of food for thought here. Daisy was number 24 on popular girl names 2007 - number 25 in 2006. Don't think it is that popular round here - though that doesn't help if we move! I will ask my friends with dc's though!
We're keen on it because of the family connection, though don't really want my dd to be one of 5 Daisy's in her class!

Esme
Isabel
Francine
Kitty
Violet
Dolly

Arthur and Henry are great names for boy twins.
Daisy and Millie are great names too, but please check out you local nursery and pre-schools first.
Lots and lots of Daisy and Millies.

My DC call their friends Millie A, Millie B, etc.Daisy C, Daisy E.
I have tried to stop it, but it seems to be the norm among their friends.
Twins are great, good luck and let us know how it all goes.

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 20:39

Oooh no - Bella Hope - Bell hop??

OP posts:
ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 20:37

Aha looby - great minds and all that...
Joy and Hope also an the shortlist as middles.
Leaning towards Rose as best friend is called Rosie.

What about Daisy Grace if one girl
and Bella Hope if two girls?

Or too twee to have 'matching' middles?

Kate is cool and classic, I agree - also my cousin's name! maybe DH will come round...

Any thoughts on a second boy name... I'm loving your ideas! DH liked George (Dizzy's suggestion) , but I'm not so keen.

loobylu3 · 10/07/2009 20:27

Oh dear! I think you need to buy him a history book!
I would try to persuade him to use Daisy Kate as I think it's much nicer than Daisy Mae. Everybody uses Mae or Rose as middle names. Kate is classic and cool at the same time.
If you like 1 syllable, what about:
Tess, Claire, Joy, Hope or Nell?

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 20:14

Classic quote from DH "Henry's not a king's name..." !!

Eeeer hellooo?

largeginandtonic · 10/07/2009 20:06

Very good but no Mae, tis like the Louise and Jane of 30 years ago.

I have a Samuel and Jacob, excellent choice imho

Arthur and Millie

Athur and Henry

Millie and Kate

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 20:00

Thanks looby!

I also really like Bella - though I suspect both DH and I will end up lengthening it to Bellatrix le Strange (from HP) though hopefully that wouldn't scar her for life....

I really like Daisy Kate - DH not so keen. Single syllable middle with Daisy works really well.
Daisy Grace?
Bella Rose?

Congrats on your twins!
Henry and Arthur are both fab.
I also love Daisy but find Millie really twee and little girly. Out of your others, I love Bella and it has a beautiful meaning too.

If you choose Daisy, perhaps a slightly more 'grown up' middle name sounds good. Daisy Kate is great or even Daisy Catherine.
How about:

Daisy Annabel (not with Bella perhaps)
Daisy Beatrice
Daisy Ruth
Daisy Maude
Daisy Alice
Daisy Juliet
Daisy Florence
Daisy Natasha
Daisy Miranda

englishpatient · 10/07/2009 19:27

Arthur and Daniel? (but might get shortened to Danny / Dan - I don't like those!)
Arthur and David?
Arthur and Simon?

FlappyTheBat · 10/07/2009 19:24

Please do not consider these names:

Star and Angel

Sky Blue and can't remember the name that went with Red

Alex and Zander

I haven't made these up, genuine names that parents have given to their twins,

dizzydixies · 10/07/2009 19:24

I loved Arthur and Henry, can't go wrong there!

Arthur nn Art is FAB!

George
Edward
Ellis
Caleb
Edwin
Theo
Gabriel
Nathan

there are loads of FAB boys names but I like the ones you've already chosen

Amelie and Jessica known as Millie and Jess is lovely

Amelie Rose and Jessica Daisy

my friend has a Jessica Daisy and she is a complete doll

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 19:21

Ideas for a second boy, then? Middle name will be Paul, after my brother. Our surname begins with F.
Thanks for all the input, btw - we've been agonising over this for months!
