There's a rather creepy & manipulative Kester (based on Richard II) in a quite good Susan Howatch novel - that'd put me off.

Christopher with Kit for short?

Somebody suggested Kit a few days ago, as a shortening of Christopher. I like that much more.

Kester is an old English version of Christopher.

I like Kester. There was a Kester in my sisters year at school. Quite a nice kid.
