What are the names of the 'cool' boys in your childs school?

Maxwell?

Wigglesworth · 08/07/2009 11:22

Mark, David, Paul, Andrew, Phillip, Christopher, they were cool when I was at school. DS is too young to be at school but these are what I think are cool names now

Sean (I am very biased towards this one )
Alex
Daniel
Dylan
Keiron
Vinnie (I love this but wouldn't have the balls to use it)

lol i had the same thing when i posted a thread asking 'how do i convince DH to agree to my fav name'...i wasn't asking for anything more than that expecially not for my name choice to be compared to his...nature of the beast me thinks lol

My DD1 is 3 and at nursery the fav boy amongst all is a little lad called Toby, who doesn't appear to be particularly cool just very sweet and friendly.

I do agree that name choices can ofton help in a way...a friend of mine has a leo and scarlet mummy is super cool so am guessing so will the kids

another cool relaxed mummy has a tom, finlay and frazer (a very cool 3 yeear old)!!

hope that helps xx

Agree with SoupDragon and sophiesmummie:

A name cannot bestow any kind of personality or coolness on someone - it works the other way round, if anything

and

Will not most parents think that their own child and own child's name is 'cool'?

The cool kids in school usually grow up to be losers.

(So speaks a former School Nerd who married the Class Smelly Boy)

The cool boys in my niece's class are all called Josh.

NotKeenOnFish · 02/07/2009 11:06

Thanks for pointing that out Lockets

Sophiesmummies you obv. missed the bit where I said I also agreed with Soupys point

Who wouldn't think their ds (and the name they gave him) was cool?

dottyaboutstripes · 02/07/2009 11:01

The other day someone said my DS2 had the "coolest name I've ever heard"

He's called Arlo...and he's pretty cool for a 2 yr old

boodleboot · 02/07/2009 09:26

my son has some pretty cool friends and their names are Dappo, Dempsey and Mason.

i personally think Hector is the coolest boys name closely followed by Huxley.

What a ridiculous question! I completely agree with Soupdragan (and others) that 'coolness' cannot be bestowed by a name! I find the concept quite ridiculous to be honest...

I happen to have known a very cool Quentin at Uni, universally known as 'Q' .

serin · 02/07/2009 00:13

I like Quentin pronounced with a French accent "Contan" but don't like the English way of saying it at all.

Jonny, Jonny cool

angrypixie · 01/07/2009 22:54

Cool boys in DD class;
Cassius
Isaac
Ben
Rufus
Marcus

sockmonster · 01/07/2009 22:40

Isaac? Finn? Hugh? Bay Atlas... oh ok not that one

tricky one, I'd love to call a ds cosmo but DH won't let me!!Says he will sound like a gremlin- I think other 'o' names can be a bit 10 years ago now though-

Not sure about Quentin. I love Quentin Blake of course but all the other Quentins are, erm, less loved, and not cool, but could be ironically cool if that makes sense...

othersideofchannel · 01/07/2009 21:45

None of the Quentin's I know are 'geeky' - my 8 year old nephew is Quentin and he is very cool (not that I'm biased of course).
