Help - boy's name - Daniel or Edward

So dh and I only agree on 2 boys' names. Edward and Daniel. Only problem is that surname is Baker. Would this put you off Daniel due to Danny Baker on the radio? Then with Edward, we have ds's comfort toy which has always been known as 'Eddie'. Would this put you off Edward? I like Dominic as well which dh won't consider . We are struggling - help!

Daniel is far nicer. I can't think why you would think people would think of Danny Baker. Hes a d list celeb.

RunningFaery · 04/07/2009 00:28

Edward. I am biased. My dad and my granddad are called Edward.

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 02/07/2009 21:36

Edward

Slightly prefer Daniel - Danny Baker will be an increasingly minor personality as your son grows up.

Other ideas: Ethan, Elliot, Edwin

Callum or Edward

othersideofchannel · 01/07/2009 21:47

I like Edward more than Daniel. I very much like Callum!

mopsyflopsy · 01/07/2009 20:49

Personally, I think Callum and Hugh/Hugo are much nicer and less common/popular than either Daniel(Dan) or Edward (Ed).

MaggieBeeBeau · 01/07/2009 15:10

I like both Daniel and Edward equally really. But Edward slightly more versatile. Can be Ted or Red

Archie is lovely. If you like Edward, what about Richard with Richie for short?
Callum is nice.

Hugh is nice although prefer Hughie! or Hugo. Just Hugh sounds a bit incomplete to my ear. I do quite like it though.

CoonRapids · 01/07/2009 15:09

I like Callum best, but not sure if it goes with the surname?

Some more choices now!
Archie
Callum
Hugh

Both names are ok, but I would go for a less common first name with your surname (Baker) being quite common.

Or have you decided on these two names only? In that case, I'd prefer Edward.

gladders · 01/07/2009 12:31

i like daniel - i only know one daniel aged under 5? the surname issue wouldn't bother me at all...

if there is ever another ds, he will be daniel or george.

blametheparents · 01/07/2009 12:30

CoonRapids · 01/07/2009 12:27

Edward. Agree Daniel is everywhere now.

MamaLazarou · 01/07/2009 11:54

Edward. There are already too many Daniels.

ZZZenAgain · 01/07/2009 11:41

know SO many Daniels. I'd go for Edward. It's a nice name.

Thelongroadhome · 01/07/2009 11:38

Daniel for me.

TwoSunnyDays · 01/07/2009 11:22

Edward Daniel is nice. I would go with Edward and have Ted as a first name. Great name and fab sort name!

There are a lot of Danile's about tho - In a group of 16 7yos I know (2 footie teams actually) 4 are Daniel.

Edward less popular I would say if you are trying to avoid top 10 names.

Rather like Ed Baker actually. DS1 middle name is Edwin which is a bit more unusual?

EyeballsandherSunburntNorks · 30/06/2009 21:41

DD would have been Edward if she wasn't a DD... Now if 5 have a DS I like Dominic.

hester · 30/06/2009 21:40

Daniel, every time.
