Canvassing for ideas on Arthur. It's a good strong name and I like it not being too popular. I can't work out if I actually like 'it' though. Is it horrendous or lovely? Can't help thinking it's v old fashioned and maybe a bit ugly as a word. But I'd love love my son to have a name that isn't ten a penny all through his growing up years and can't think of any others. It's a bit of a family name so works from that point of view too.

Other names we like are Sam and Oliver but they are SOOOO common (ie. there are millions of them).

Middle name could be Brian (family name) but Arthur Brian might be a bit unfair on the poor little thing. Thoughts??

MamaLazarou · 22/06/2009 09:25

Love it - we're having Arthur for a middle name, after my dear old Grandad.

EachPeachPearMum · 22/06/2009 01:40

Great name!

daisy99divine · 22/06/2009 01:40

Yes, Like Arthur a lot, but you said you wanted an unusual name and sorry, I think there are loads of arthur's around at the mo!

campion · 22/06/2009 01:33

Yes, it's a good, strong name - I wish I'd used it for DS's.
But please don't add Brian!

Yes - a good proper name. Not made-up or silly. Love it!

Thunderduck · 21/06/2009 21:37

I don't like it.

screamingabdab · 21/06/2009 21:35

Good name, but as you say, adding Brian may be a step too far ...

goodasgold · 21/06/2009 21:34

I love it.

I wanted to use it on my son too.

19fran76 · 21/06/2009 21:30

I like it.

I also like Oliver, and Sam is fine too.

Marthasmama · 21/06/2009 21:26

Arthur is a good solid name. I fancied for dd is she had been a boy, also like Albert.

hocuspontas · 21/06/2009 21:25

Ha! Separated at birth Fluffy!

DiamondHead · 21/06/2009 21:24

Like Arthur.

hocuspontas · 21/06/2009 21:24

I like it. Arty. Art. Not Arthur Brian though. Some wit at school will start calling him 'Alf a brain'

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 21/06/2009 21:23

It's cool. I knew a little boy called Arthur, he was a super dude! Reminds me of Olive from on the buses "Arfur!" It's a wicked name. Maybe not Arthur Brian though, could be bullied and called 'half a brain' IYSWIM.

leakyR · 21/06/2009 21:21

Ditto.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 21/06/2009 21:20

Love it, was my first choice for DS but DH said no.
