I work with an Aster (like the lovely daisies) and an Alys (short for Alyssum) both of which I love now and also know a Nigella as well as a Poppy, Lily, Iris (three sisters in fact), Daisy, Marguerite, Rowan and a Posy.

My mum's family were all called after flowers (Ivy, Lily, Violet) and the boy was William, after Sweet William. Which is nice.

Pollyanna · 23/06/2009 14:02

Blossom
Clementine

Ondine · 23/06/2009 13:52

Linden is nice for a boy.

lastboxoftampons · 23/06/2009 13:52

Jacinda is the Spanish version of Hyacinth.

thell · 23/06/2009 13:46

Was also going to suggest Laurel for a girl

Asa is a boy's name, pronounced the same as Acer...
...and of course, Rowan.

tigerdriver · 20/06/2009 00:36

Acer is rather a nice, if "unusual" name

Hope his surname isn't Spades, though

hellymelly · 20/06/2009 00:34

I know a boy called Acer.

tigerdriver · 20/06/2009 00:25

and if it's a winter baby (girl, obviously): Snowdrop.

boys are a bit tricky : Sage (noooo). Basil. Viburnum. Sounds masculine anyway but bonkers. Laburnum. even more bonkers. Ash? Oak? Why bother?

KleineMaus · 20/06/2009 00:21

a tree really but I know a Laurel, which I think is lovely

MamaLazarou · 19/06/2009 15:57

Timothy is a plant.

belgo · 19/06/2009 15:51

Heath for a boy
Heather for a girl

belgo · 19/06/2009 15:51

Rowan for a boy or girl
Douglas as in Douglas fir tree

Woollymummy · 19/06/2009 15:46

Obviously diverting a bit, but can anyone think of boy's flower names, apart from Basil?

TabithaTwitchet · 19/06/2009 15:46
