I prefer James - i love the nicknames Jim and Jimmy.

Joseph is fine, i just dont find it as striking as James.

I pn it Jo-seph.

BottySpottom · 23/06/2009 22:29

Joseph. I think James Rivers is quite hard to say too.

jellybeans · 22/06/2009 23:15

I say it Jo-zeph too.

dizzydixies · 21/06/2009 15:35

both fab names

pranma · 21/06/2009 15:31

I love both names
We have a John Joseph and a Finn James

fizzpops · 20/06/2009 14:45

I love both names and prefer James if pushed but not sure it goes as well with Rivers - too many 's' sounds.

MrsKitty · 20/06/2009 14:40

James. Fabulous name, can't go wrong.

TrixieVix · 19/06/2009 12:49

I have a Joseph and I LURVE the name! He's such a boys boy and the name really suits him.

He is very often referred to as Joey despite me saying when he was born that no-one was to call him that! He's just so cheeky that it suits him.

When we're out he's mainly Joe and Joseph when he's being a monkey or I'm trying to get his attention.

His middle name is William which again I think goes beautifully. Funnily enough the other name we were going to have was James. DH wanted to call him Joseph James, but I wasn't keen on him being called JJ for a nn.

And I say Jo-zeph

forehead · 18/06/2009 19:24

My ds is Joseph. I love the name.

CurryMaid · 18/06/2009 19:09

Ok, this has been good actually, thanks.

We were set on Joseph James before but it's only now we've had a bit of breathing space that I've started to question it.

One of the main reasons we preferred it was because we both like Joe as a nickname, but none of the nns for James.

It's just the pronunciation thing I'm stuck on though - the fact that people pronounce it in different ways..

Joseph

CurryMaid · 18/06/2009 19:03

Quick straw poll though, do you all pronounce it:

Jo-zeph; or

Jo-seph?

littlerach · 18/06/2009 16:44

If I had a boy he would have been Joseph.

MadameDefarge · 18/06/2009 16:37

I have a Joseph too, and he has gone from Jojo to Joe/Joseph.

I was a bit underwhelmed by it at first, but it was the only name me and exp could agree on. (he wanted to call him Angel....bleugh!)

But now I love it, of course!

Bleatblurt · 18/06/2009 16:31

I like James much more.

RubyLove1 · 18/06/2009 16:25

Joseph James all the way!

pedalmonster · 18/06/2009 15:10

ahh - be careful of using both your favorite names on your first child / first son...

we couldnt choose and used them both - and now we wish we could have one back to use on DS2!!! LOL

I like Joseph.

Rindercella · 18/06/2009 11:05

Joseph James is quite lovely actually.

James is a very nice name, but I know sooo many little boys called James (out of 4 boys in our swimming class, 3 of them are James!).

jellybeans · 18/06/2009 10:33

Much prefer Joseph, James is abit ordinary. Also prefer Joe to Jimmy. Most James I know get Jim/Jimmy.

CurryMaid · 18/06/2009 09:45

LadyOfWaffle · 18/06/2009 09:44

I have one of each

CurryMaid · 18/06/2009 09:43

When we had DD we had agreed on Joseph James if she was a boy.

Still think I prefer it but I do love James.
