Well, the title says it all really - what do you think of the name Prudence.
I think it ought to be due a revival! Yes? No?
I have a Pearl already (amongst other dc's), do the two 'P's matter?
Would love all opinions, thanks!

It isn't my personal choice but it is fine.

One of DD's friends is called Prudence, with it being shortened to Pru.

Pasiphae · 17/06/2009 13:12

It's lovely. Very demure, quite chic, but sweet.

ThePhantomPlopper · 16/06/2009 20:25

Not keen at all.

It seems such a harsh name for a little girl.

peasandbeans · 16/06/2009 20:24

I know a very sweet girl called Prudence (aged 5), but tbh its not my favourite name.

TwoIfBySea · 16/06/2009 20:24

I like it although I'd be constantly singing Dear Prudence in my mind!

Patience? Honor? Chastity?

BumShuffler · 16/06/2009 18:18

Not too keen on it for a baby, but i have a sheep called Prudence (nn Pru) and so do have a soft spot for the name!

Not much help sorry

LaDiDaDi · 16/06/2009 17:42

I'm not keen on it at all.

gagamama · 16/06/2009 16:02

I don't dislike it, but it reminds me of the Prudential insurance company. Plus the potential nicknames of Prude and Dence would put me off.

There are other virtue names ending in -ence which are much nicer, IMO.

LilRedWG · 16/06/2009 14:50

I think Prudence is a lovely name. WRT two Ps - my sister and I are both Cs and it did annoy her if I opened her post "by mistake".

FlappyTheBat · 16/06/2009 14:48

Something that Gordon Brown called for when he was Chancellor.

CurryMaid · 16/06/2009 14:44

Prunes.

That's all I picture.

Not a good image.

I love it.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/06/2009 14:27

do you want her to be called 'careful' though? that's the only bit i have reservations about i guess.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/06/2009 14:27

i think it's lovely, old fashioned...but won't be by time dd grows up.

prue is fab.

Sunshinemummy · 16/06/2009 14:26

Yes I love it. Love The Beatles song too.

Thunderduck · 16/06/2009 14:19

..presenting baby Prudence. I just cannot imagine a baby prudence. I'm picturing a mini Les Dawson look alike.

MeAndMyMonkey · 16/06/2009 14:16

Bit prim I think but has good connotations for me re Jilly Cooper, and sweet Beatles song 'Dear Prudence'.

annasmami · 16/06/2009 14:16

I love Prudence - think it goes very well with Pearl!

Hoorayhenrietta · 16/06/2009 14:13

I adore Prue, with Prudence being on the birth cert. I don't think two P's matter either...go for it!

Thunderduck · 16/06/2009 14:10

I think it's hideous.

mrsruffallo · 16/06/2009 14:09

don't like it sorry
