Which do you prefer and why?

Penelope is very pretty and as others have said, so are the shortened versions.

I can normally warm to a name, but I am struggling with Adelaide and I dont know why. It doesn't shock me all that much, but it seems awkward for some reason.

Penelope is very nice.
Adelaide has great sentimental value to me because I was born there, but it's a bit of a big lunky name.

Penelope is far nicer. It's beautiful, unusual and not weird or unwise! it could be Polly, Poppy or Penny. I do like Penelope itself too.

Adelaide might be shortened to Addie, which seems a bit trendy, like a version of Maddy/Madison. Laide means ugly in French. I don't hate the name though.
