Joy is lovely, Joyce is terrible. Isabella is very pretty and very common.

sleepyhead3 · 14/06/2009 12:56

Lovely name!

serin · 13/06/2009 22:54

I like Joyce

sophiesmummie · 13/06/2009 22:02

Joyce sounds lovely and feminine and is not that common. I think it's a great choice!

Isabella is very, very common in Surrey - there are 2 in my dd's class of 24 and 3 in my ds's reception year of 31..... I wouldn't choose it as a first name for that reason.

popsycal · 13/06/2009 21:43

I would reverse it

Issy123 · 13/06/2009 21:41

My name is Isabel and I'm in my late 30's, as a child, I did not know anyone else with my name it was just unheard of then, I can't believe its so popular now. You just never know Joyce may seem different now but this could change.

Bonneville · 13/06/2009 21:32

Joyce - lovely name. I like proper sensible names - none of this 'made-up' 'unique' or 'originally spelled' rubbish!

Nancy66 · 13/06/2009 21:24

way ahead and on her own - joyce will never become trendy, trust me.

totalmisfit · 13/06/2009 21:18

don't forget, 13 or so years ago Isabella was completely unfashionable, out of date and unheard of in anyone under 60. Now it's super trendy and everyone's using it. You'll be way ahead of the crowd with Joyce, i reckon.

totalmisfit · 13/06/2009 21:16

Joyce is lovely. Due a big revival.

Sidge · 13/06/2009 21:16

Isabella is a lovely name.

Joyce is not.

Nancy66 · 13/06/2009 17:19

Oh god Joyce is a terrible name! It's up there with Pauline and Marjory.....

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 10:35

completely disagree there are too many isabellas, I think its dependant on where you are because we have one and have not heard of another one yet

Joyce Isabella is lovely congratulations

loveofotters · 13/06/2009 10:08

We can't use Isabella as the first name and we like that Joyce is different to the norm.

Glad most of you like it.I feel very reassured that we're making the right decision.

Joyce is my sisters name. I like it because it is not very common. I think Isabella Joyce sounds better. However, there are too many Isabellas. My dd has got 4 in her class of 26 children.

IDidntRaiseAThief · 13/06/2009 08:26

trying to hard.

Tambajam · 13/06/2009 08:11

I like Joyce. It's different.

My friend is called Joy and is very bored of being told to 'cheer up' so she suits her name every time she looks lost in thought.

piscesmoon · 13/06/2009 08:07

I think that Joy is much nicer than Joyce.

sugarplumfairy · 12/06/2009 23:33

My DD2 is called Isabella Joy, there isn't many Isabella's at her school and she likes Joy as it actually means something.

RosieMBanks · 12/06/2009 23:25

Joyce is a pretty name, but sounds a little old-fashioned....although I love the Latin meaning 'Joy'.
One of my favourite childhood books was 'Towers in the Mist' by Elizabeth Goudge - Joyeuce Leigh is one of the characters, and I think the spelling is prettier than 'Joyce'.

piscesmoon · 12/06/2009 23:07

I prefer Isabella Joyce.

jellybeans · 12/06/2009 22:50

prefer isabella joyce, Joyce too old fashioned.

boodleboot · 12/06/2009 22:47

i have a lovely friend who is called Joyce - i think i prefer joy tho to be honest.

KERALA1 · 12/06/2009 21:23

There are lots and lots of Isabellas so if that bothers you don't switch it at the last minute!

KERALA1 · 12/06/2009 21:23

Good choice being classic and old fashioned but not in common usage ie Grace/Olivia/Daisy
