What are your thoughts? Its not a name that I have really liked that much in the past, but for some reason it has really grown on me - I like lottie as a nickname.

my dc3 was going to be charlotte i think its a pretty name ,but dc3 turned out to be a boy

LilRedWG · 16/06/2009 20:37

I have a niece called Charlotte - she hates and detests being called Lottie. Charl was appparently cool for a while , but now it's Charlotte, Charlotte or Charlotte. Of course to me she will always be Lotty.

broccoliandchips · 16/06/2009 20:31

I've got a Charlotte. Used to occasionally call her Lottie and as soon as she could speak she let us know in no uncertain terms that she ONLY wanted to be called Lottie and not Charlotte. She is now Lottie to everyone.

I have a Charlotte so i obviously love the name. I had intended to use Lottie as a nn but it never happened. She gets Charley Warley ( she's only 10 months, hence the babyish nn) but we pronounce it with the soft sounding 'Sh' rather than 'Ch'.

KERALA1 · 09/06/2009 11:56

Love Lottie, Charlie for a girl less so.

It is a pretty name, classic and won't raise eyebrows.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/06/2009 18:44

DD is Charlotte. I would call her Lottie as a nick name, but DH doesn't much like. He would call her Charlie but I don't much like that. Now he says if we have a boy in the future we must call him David, so we can have Chaz 'n' Dave

Have found several little girls in our area, who will end up in the same school year as her, called Charlotte though.

Pity your partner said, no any others you like

Charlotte is a lovely name, but Lottie, have to admit I really don't like at all - could have something to do with the Lottie the LadyBird playmat we bought for dd1.

Lottie to me, will always remind me of a M&P playmat!

knickers0nmahead · 08/06/2009 00:06

i love the name charlotte, would never dream of calling dd lottie or charley as a nickname though.

Karam · 07/06/2009 21:19

Ditto Blame. DH loved Charlotte, but not Lottie, so that was vetoed for me.

I love the name though!

blametheparents · 07/06/2009 20:47

I wanted to call DD Charlotte (nn Lottie), but DH would not let me

Pingpong · 07/06/2009 20:35

Lottie with t's pronounced is nice. Loh ee with no t's sounds terrible IMO.
My SIL is called Charlotte and family call her Lottie. I can't bring myself to say it. I prefer the full name although I do have another friend who I call Charlie and it suits her.

MaggieBee · 07/06/2009 18:10

I like LOTTIE and I like Charlie. Not keen on charlotte in full. Lottie is gorgeous though.

belgo · 07/06/2009 17:55

I love the name Charlotte. My dd2 has a slightly different name.

MIAonline · 07/06/2009 17:47

I think it is pretty and its actually not used very much where I live. I also like the idea of Charlie or Lottie which gives you a bit of variation depending on how she turns out!

nice name

violethill · 07/06/2009 17:07

Agree with sockmonster. Charlotte is beautiful. If you must shorten it, Lottie is the best.

KAEKAE · 07/06/2009 14:53

DP doesn't like it after all....says its boring! Back to the drawing board!!!

Charlotte in its original form (not charlie or char or lottie) is a beautiful and classy name with timeless style and versatility. Lottie is the least offensive nickname, but I like the full name.

BonsoirAnna · 05/06/2009 13:49

I think Charlotte is very pretty.

EachPeachPearMum · 05/06/2009 13:45

It's lovely- classic and timeless imo.

PlumBumMum · 05/06/2009 13:35
