yes and one of the girls in P A H R says ' miranda looks like boticelli's angel'

cheerychapstick · 29/05/2009 15:50

No re SATC - I gave dd1 the same name as someone in SATC (unintentionally, because it's not my thing) and a couple of people asked had I named her after. Two friends tried to find some baby Jimmy Choos, which really threw me for a while until they explained (I really don't watch it!). And since then (2004) no one has ever mentioned it again.

And I love Miranda and Southeastastra - yay - another Picnic fan! Luurrrve that film...

Tempest here too, and Mimi is lovely.

nigglewiggle · 28/05/2009 21:00

Have a lovely friend called Merinda. We call her Min for short. If they would consider a slight variation to avoid SATC associations.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 28/05/2009 20:55

I have had mirry but mostly mimi

RedCharityBonney · 28/05/2009 14:28

I think Miranda Richardson, and Shakespeare. Never seen SATC.

Harimad · 28/05/2009 12:12

I like the name Miranda and was thinking of choosing it as I wanted the NN Mimi with it, even without a surname starting with Mi..

It always reminds me of the film Serenity, then Miranda Richardson. Who is brilliant.

qumquat · 28/05/2009 11:03

I love the name Miranda, Mirry is a cute nickname as well.

boodleboot · 27/05/2009 22:02

We wanted to call dd Miranda but it didn't go with dp's surname (surnames beginning with a vowel are a pitn). We were thinking Shakespeare and SATC wouldn't have entered my head: then again, until I saw your thread I had no idea that there was a character called Miranda in SATC as I've never seen it.

Mimi is v nice as a nn imho but had dd been Miranda her nn would probably have been Mindy (as in Mork and...).

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 27/05/2009 21:40

asked dp what he thought of my name and he said he liked it but inly on me

he says 'its your name - just yours; which is about the most romantic thing he has ever said!

confusedfirsttimemum · 27/05/2009 17:47

nomorechoc · 27/05/2009 13:48

is mimi pronounced mi-mee or mee-mee?

Quiltedrose · 27/05/2009 13:42

It makes me think Miranda Richardson too, but as Queenie in Blackadder (it was her, wasn't it?) and I do not think that is a good thing! Mimi is lovely though

totalmisfit · 27/05/2009 13:35

it's lovely. if i didn't have a cousin with the name and a dd whose name begins with 'M' i'd seriously consider it myself. i dont think it's elderly at all.

Lovely name and makes me think Shakespeare, then Miranda Richardson, then SATC. Shakespeare is the most enduring by far.
