Go on, what do you think. We can't agree on any boys names but keep coming back to this. Eli for short I guess. Views?

Told people we were going to call bump Elijah as a joke - but it's grown on me... and now on our shortlist!

NormaSknockers · 29/05/2009 14:44

LOL tummy to this day DH's grandparents still refuse to call DS Elijah referring to him as 'The little fella' instead DS is now almost 10 months old!!

tummytickler · 29/05/2009 14:06

Norma - we have 6 year old ds called Elijah, but we also liked Raymond, but my Dad said 'no way - you cant call a child that!', refering to Raymond! haha .

magbags · 29/05/2009 14:03

It's a lovely name (I like Eli too). BTW kid in Sleepless in Seatle was called Jonah!

claired21 · 29/05/2009 13:18

I love it but DP ruled it out for us.

NormaSknockers · 29/05/2009 12:35

I adore it, but I am biased as my DS is Elijah - although he gets called Ligee or Slider by his sister

We had a mixed reaction when we announced it after his birth (his great grandad said we should have called him something "normal" like Raymond) but we both absolutely love it & it suits him to a T!

Go for it

BlameItOnTheBogey · 27/05/2009 18:53

Glad it helped trixie. Interestingly, one of the things that is maybe stopping us from using it is that we are Jewish and DH is convinced that DS would get bored of jokes about empty seats at passover (where Elijah is meant to sit). So either way, you can't win....

oh yay
I was getting very stressed about imminent baby being a boy and nameless forever. Elijah has been on our list but something i couldn't put my finger on, (maybe it being too jewish when i'm not?)was stopping me.
This thread has made up my mind I am officially happy to put Elijah at the top of my shortlist(vv shortlist). A girl stands a much better of being named in this house.

Eli is great as a nn too.

Thanks

bronze · 26/05/2009 23:43

my favourite though was swinging towards Elias as rarer but I wasn't allowed either

RachieB · 26/05/2009 23:40

Lovely

Kayteee · 26/05/2009 20:00

I like it...Elias is nice too.

cthea · 26/05/2009 19:47

Elijah sounds ugly, sorry. Eli is nice. But not Elijah.

3lilgirlsxxx · 26/05/2009 19:40

Love it, i only seem to have girls or it'd be on the top of my boys list!!!

boodleboot · 26/05/2009 19:33

Love it. It was on our list for ds, who ended up Noah. Go for it.

HellHathNoFury · 26/05/2009 15:58

Love it. We ruled it out for some reason - I think DH decided it was too biblical.
But that aside, I love it.

Wasn't the kid in Sleepless in Seattle called Elijah?

BlameItOnTheBogey · 26/05/2009 15:40

Wow! That's a universal 'like it'! OK, good well we may have a name then.

Friend has an Elijah -- love it

ProfYaffle · 25/05/2009 19:53

I love Elijah, that's what dd2 would have been called if she were a boy. Eli is a family name for us.

Thunderduck · 25/05/2009 19:49

Love it. It's a great name.
