chipmonkey · 25/05/2009 15:48

Sorry, I do think soup when I see "Erin" written down!
Bit like calling a boy Baxter.

giraffesCantRunA10k · 25/05/2009 15:32

love it

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 25/05/2009 15:30

Wizard, maybe there are Erins in Ireland since the soup has been rebranded??? It's like Shannon. The Americans began using it "because it's Irish" and we have imported it back from them. so, it's like Pizza (from the Italian quarter of ny) if you know what I mean.

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 25/05/2009 15:28

Susie is gorgeous but Erin is really nmsaa

incacat · 25/05/2009 15:05

LOVE IT! I have an Erin - she is a gorgeous, beautiful, clever girl. Oldest of 4 girls but her name is the best of the 4. Everyone says how pretty her name is.

screamingabdab · 22/05/2009 18:04

I love Erin. It was on my list

WizardNoHeart · 22/05/2009 17:36

Erin is my middle name, I wish it was my first which I hate.

I live in Ireland and there are several Erins in our town - all ten and under. As previously noted maybe it's a new thing? Although I'm not anywhere near 10!

Thumbs up here

Weegiemum · 22/05/2009 17:30

One of dd1's best friends is Erin, and funny enough she is a kind of "Pixie Child", very fine featured. We also know an Erin who uses it as a nn for Catherine.

Susie? Well natch I prefer the Susan version but have very rarely heard it used recently. Its pretty, but it makes me think of the 2 Susie's I know, both my age (late 30's).

MuffinToptheMule · 22/05/2009 17:27

I was going to be an Erin, it is actually written on one of my baby books, but thank god my dad decided he didn't like it. There was a horrible bully in the year above called Erin and having the same name as her I imagine would have caused problems. Because of this I don't like the name - irrational I know.

sockmonster · 21/05/2009 19:26

I like it I think it would suit a pixie-like child. It's pretty.

Gorionine · 21/05/2009 19:03

snap poppity!

Poppity · 21/05/2009 19:01

I love Erin, reminds me of The Waltons

Sazisi · 21/05/2009 18:44

I'm in Ireland and have met 3 Erins here..they are all young though so I guess it's seen as kind of modern.

guineamango yes, but only if you are unable to pronounce the h and the g!

guineamango · 21/05/2009 18:19

I love this name too and it's on my girl list....but my DH says it sounds like Herring (the fish) Which when you think about it, it does

JoPie · 21/05/2009 18:12

I've never met an Erin in Ireland, I think it would be cheesy, as Eiránn (Ireland) is a commonly used word.
Does sound more american to me, but its ok.

MrsMattie · 19/05/2009 17:33

Not keen, really. Bit Yankified. I know two little girls called Erin recently. Both Erin Grace, weirdly. It's not horrible, it's just fake-Irish to my ears.

DobbyDooDah · 19/05/2009 17:28

i love the name, its irish isnt it? i have a good friend called Erin and it suits her very much! i hope the name will suit the baby

FelineFine · 19/05/2009 17:20

I like it. It's pretty. It's also very common, where I live, maybe not where you live though!

Sazisi · 19/05/2009 17:19

I love it - DD1's middle name

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 19/05/2009 17:18

Erin is lovely!

LittleMissNorty · 19/05/2009 17:17

my 15 week old DS was going to be called Erin had he been a DD....so I love it

Fimbo · 19/05/2009 17:16

My niece is called Erin, I would have used it if my dsil hadn't got in there first!

Congratulations to BexieID btw!

lynniep · 19/05/2009 17:13

I really like it, but I suggested it to DH last time I was pg and he said no way. So I guess thats out if this ones a girl...

Also like Susie - was the name of my cat, but I'd be quite happy to call my daughter it as well.

Twims · 19/05/2009 17:13

Know a couple of Erin's cute name and easy to spell when they start school.
