Old lady names.......

Babylove502 · 08/05/2009 17:51

I really like old lady type names.

My favourite is Elsie (I'm thinking Elsie May)

Also on the list is

Olive (olly for nn)
Ethel
Mabel
Iris
Millicent
Bessie.

Other names I like are

Delilah or Lila (Rose as a mn)
Cedar
Willow
Alyssa (Lissy for nn)
Orli
Phoebe

Let me know what you think? Are they all silly or do you like any of them.I quite like the idea a name that can be shortened or have a good nn!

Thanks

I love Myrtle, Pearl and Betty. DH wouldn't have any of these though. Gah.

oliviasmama · 09/05/2009 06:48

Freda and Mabel were on my final "list" but DH just didn't get it at all, hence Olivia.

My granny's were Florrie and Connie which I think are really pretty.

DD has a lovely friend called Edie.

Somebody on here was talking about Rita the other day. Sweet.

I have an Esme, which is quite old lady. At least, I know an old lady of nearly 100 called it.

Bloody hell, it's early isn't it?

seeker · 09/05/2009 06:33

Adelaide
Constance
Clemency

JESSIE! really due a revival (my Gran's name) and dd2's middle name (first name Rachel after dh's gran!).

A great statement. My Gran used to say, though, before she died "I wish I had a better name to gie that bairn" - but as her middle name was Adam in a family tradition kind of way, Jessie was it!

How about Euphemia? Effie for short. I could never convince DH on it, so someone else might as well get it.
