which do you prefer, or neither? Not totally in love with either of them but need a welsh name and it is one of very few name that DH likes

Ffion is lovely

Cerys gets my vote of the two. I knew a baby called Carys and her mother used to spit when she said it. Totally subjective opinion, of course, but it does tend to put you off.....

Gattina83 · 04/06/2009 00:04

I'm called Cerys, lots of people call me Carys, keriz, and when they read it pronounce it sereez, seris, cheris, and spell it kerris, cheris etc my sister is called Rhian and everyone assumes it's short for Rhiannon or they call her Ryan! ....I would go for Jane...
Ffion is my favourite welsh name, hubby thinks it sounds like a pretentious Fiona..

Cerys would get my vote from your choices.......but what about Delyth, I think that is fab

Tidey · 18/05/2009 15:36

Cerys looks prettier.

gladders · 18/05/2009 15:30

carys definitely - it was in the running for dd...

other welsh names that we have in our family are eirlys (snowdrop), heddwen (white peace) and betrys (no idea - it's welsh form of beatrice....)

Ceolas · 18/05/2009 14:54

I love Carys but we're Scottish. Would that be weird?

MrsMattie · 15/05/2009 19:59

I can't decide. They are both lovely. Ummm...Carys, by a whisker.

frAKKINPannikin · 15/05/2009 19:57

Meredith is lovely and can be shortened to Meri/Merry. Merryn is another nice, and unusual, name.

I like Rhian, Arianwen, Telyn and Rhedyn (my taste runs to the unusual...)

The name Arianrhod is really pretty but my poor friend has to spell it to everyone.

Babylove502 · 09/05/2009 09:43

Nekabu · 09/05/2009 09:13

notsoteenagemum · 08/05/2009 22:16

I like Carys better I think it sounds softer, and I used to look after a beautiful Carys.
What about Seren, Megan, Bronwen or Lowri.

Also like Enfys, Deryn and Delith.

boodleboot · 07/05/2009 11:34

ChocFridgeCake · 07/05/2009 11:06

Carys or Seren

dottyaboutstripes · 07/05/2009 10:58

I like them both and when we had dd3, we chose Carys as I preferred Carrie to Cerrie if people (as they always do!) wanted to shorten it.

My fave Welsh name is Nia (that's why DD1 is Nia 0

onadietcokebreak · 06/05/2009 23:18
