What do you think of Margaret?
I love Peggy as a nn, and also Maggie, but not sure aabout Margaret, I have never met oe under the age of 30!! (so due a revival possibly?)
i think the nn fit well with siblings but not the full name, but dont think Maggie or Peggy on the birth certificate is a good idea.
So would love some opinions, thanks

No it;s too old a name for a little girrl sorry.

Thunderduck · 03/05/2009 15:51

I don't like it at all and Maggie is even worse imho.

SamsMama · 03/05/2009 15:46

Love Margaret! DH's church is St. Margaret's so it was on our list once upon a time. LOVE all the nickname options, esp. Maisy and Meg. (I'm a Meg tho so may be biased! ) Maggie, Peg, Daisy, Pearl, etc, etc. Even Ettie!

PuppyMonkey · 03/05/2009 15:45

Don't like Margaret much (Thatcher connotations).

Peggy or Maggie a million times better on their own.

Hate the MN obsession with "must use a proper name on birth certificate."

nkf · 03/05/2009 15:40

I like Maggie as the nickname more than Peggy though.

nkf · 03/05/2009 15:39

Lovely.

cazzybabs · 03/05/2009 15:39

I am thinking of Margaret on the birth certificate but shortening to Peggy for real life for dc4

TwoScrambled · 03/05/2009 15:36

Love it! Its a classic that will last well as she gets older.

I would shorten to Margot

MrsKitty · 03/05/2009 14:18

Can't recall having ever met or heard of any little girls called Margaret so think it would be quite unusual, and love Meg as a nn.

Am considering it as a possible middle name if we have a DD as both my Mum & MIL are Margarets.

Definitely coming back. Was on our list for DS2 had he been a girl, and a friend has just called her newborn DD Margaret nn Maggie.

juneybean · 03/05/2009 10:26

I love Maggie. But Margaret is still a bit Janet and Maureen to me IYSWIM?
Needs another generation before it becomes old-lady-chic.
