Ds has just started pre-school and there are some unusual names there, some I love and some not so keen on, but its interesting to see new names I hadnt heard of/considered before!
I live in a pretty conservative area.

Some are

Harmarnie (girl)
Indiana (girl)
Eden (boy)

What unusual ones have you got?

yama I don't follow the footie (although am also in Scotland) and that didn't even occur to me I haven't a leg to stand on considering what my DD3 is called!!

Dizzy - there have been a few footballers (male) here in Scotland called Jackie.

BannedInternationalFlight · 02/05/2009 08:17

Anchan

T'habib

Yonatan (not sure about this - argued with ds for ages that it MUST be Jonathan, have yet to see it written down!

Ola

All quite interesting and unusual but not TTH (try-too-hard) or anything - just quite nice.

Serendipity, Daffodil, Sapphire, Tiger (boy)

nevergoogledragonbutter · 01/05/2009 19:25

at greensleeves.

another strategy is to only name one unusual name, that can't be crossmatched.

TheLadyofShalott · 01/05/2009 19:24

DD has friends called Tanika, Christie-Eden, Fayme and Seriann

We have three Courtneys at the school I work at, so I wouldn't have thought of that as unusual.
There was a girl who was registerd at school as PJ but she was always called Anna.
We also had Parisa a few years ago.

Greensleeves · 01/05/2009 19:10

Carenza
Melody
Raven
Raphael
Tianna (vomit)
Marly
Darwin
Romin

Greensleeves · 01/05/2009 18:58

I think Velvet is gorgeous and would use Ettie as a nn

IheartNY · 01/05/2009 18:57

Its odd that there is an Indiana in Ds's class as thats my absolute dream name which I would have named one of my boys if I had been brave enough (they've both got names which could not be called unusual lol)

There is also an Anastasjia - is this the usual spelling or is it a variation?
