Unusual names at your DCs school

Ds has just started pre-school and there are some unusual names there, some I love and some not so keen on, but its interesting to see new names I hadnt heard of/considered before!
I live in a pretty conservative area.

Some are

Harmarnie (girl)
Indiana (girl)
Eden (boy)

What unusual ones have you got?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DS1 knows an Ozzy

Rialentless · 03/05/2009 08:06

Rogan (boy) can only hope his middle name isn't Josh.

I know a boy called Blake, and I think there are a couple of Kian/Cian.
I also know someone called Delta{girl}, but not school-age.

DS2s name is on this thread twice.

Today we had a memorial service at school and the head warned the boys not to laugh at the names of the soldiers as it was a long time ago and the names may seem silly.

Compared to some of the names they will have come across I'm sure the odd Rodney or Stanley isn't going to send them into convulsive laughter.

Talon (boy)
Prince (boy)

SamsMama · 03/05/2009 06:48

Yeah, Brayden is very common here in the US, along with Jayden, Kaiden, Ayden, Xhaden...UUUGHHH! (I already ranted about this in a different thread though so I will hush.) I also have known more than one Neveah. A little girl at the school I work with is called Fari. Also have known 3 Xanders. 2 were short for Alexander, one was just Xander. I know of a little boy named Rowdy- hideous name for a child in my opinion. I also had a boy in the preschool class I taught named Aspen Jade.

Magic (boy)
Harris (girl)

Seren, which is Welsh for Star and I think Star is an unusual name.
Diesel
Torn

Hee hee have seen a few of my DC's names on here. They all have a fair few. I started off with the normal two and each one got a few more.

DS2 has the most though as he came with some already and we added some more.

Not telling you what names they are though. They are not the more extreme ones.

There are loads of names I have never heard before at DS's school but thats because it is very diverse so lots of 'new' names. I have always marvelled at the way very young children pick up the seemingly (to me) difficult to prononce names of classmates.

Olo/Olu/Ola is a v.common name in Nigera BTW.
I like unusual names as long as they dont have that sense of 'ooh look how 'different' we are, we called our child .....'

Weasel is just bizzare though (hmm bissarrre thats quite good one)

tigerdriver · 03/05/2009 00:15
