Ds has just started pre-school and there are some unusual names there, some I love and some not so keen on, but its interesting to see new names I hadnt heard of/considered before!
I live in a pretty conservative area.

Some are

Harmarnie (girl)
Indiana (girl)
Eden (boy)

What unusual ones have you got?

Also Tiger (I like it), Sugar Ray, Honeysha.

GoldenSnitch · 24/07/2009 16:29

My Ds is too small for school ATM but my Mum, Sister and Best Friend all work in schools.

Friend was relating the strangest names from her school the other day...they have a girl called Blessed and boys named Hope, Miracle and Godlove!!

It is a CofE school but they seem a little extreme to me!

mrsradders · 24/07/2009 16:21

wow, we don't have any really odd names we do have an edgar, but thats quite normal i think!!!

OrangeKnickers · 15/07/2009 14:15

I know a Taiga too! In London. He is V cute. It's such a cool name but I am not japanese so it would be tres wanky to use it, I think.

MamaLazarou · 15/07/2009 08:42

Tia, Scarlet and Ellis are most definitely NOT unusual!

Pennybubbly · 15/07/2009 03:38

I think practically all of the names in my DDs class would be unusual on this board as we're in Tokyo .
But my DH's (Japanese) colleague called his 2 sons Snow and Usa (pronounced Uh-sa, but looks like U.S.A., so cool, right?
Tiger (or Taiga) is a really popular boys name here btw. There is one who sits next to my dd at nursery and he is the devil incarnate

gorionine · 14/07/2009 17:16

minouminou · 14/07/2009 14:02

gorionine · 14/07/2009 13:18

I went to school ith a Django, always lovd the name!

Mine still not on!

minouminou · 14/07/2009 13:10

Yup, Tafka....Frodo. Straight up. We're leaving this city soon, after 11 years here, and do you know what, I shall miss it terribly.

OrangeKnickers · 14/07/2009 10:29

Illboo - I guess it could have been Shae, but the boy was dressed like a Che. (ie sort of trendy dressing).

I overheard recently 'come on you, we're off to see Callum and Caprice now'.

The mind boggles.

claireybee · 13/07/2009 14:25

I'm looking forward to seeing dd's name on here in a couple of years

geekgirl · 13/07/2009 14:20

at our school we have / had (courtesy of the American parents from the US military base):
Justice
Regime
Storm
Bear
(all boys)
Jaelyne
Jordyn
Hildegard
McKenzie
(girls)
and then LOADS of CJs, JJs etc. No idea what their proper names are or, indeed, if they actually have a normal first name.

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 13/07/2009 14:17

Dh wanted to call ds "Monkey". I vetoed it, but he gets called it anyway as a nickname! Dh also liked "Brock" for ds, as he looked like a badger on the 20 week scan. Also vetoed.

mustrunmore · 13/07/2009 14:16

Weasel and monkey ffs??!!
Thuoght my kids had unusual names, but even I cant beat that!!

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 13/07/2009 14:16

Frodo? Seriously? Jeez...

I am loving Django though.

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 13/07/2009 14:14

Ds is at school with a little boy who (i think) has a Russian connection. His name is Sacha, which is short for Alexandra, I think. He is an adorable little boy though, it really suits him.

I kind of like unusual names, they stand out among the Thomas' and the Matthews and the Chloes and the Emilys. We tried to give our dc names that were usual without being outlandish, and when i went to register dd's birth the registrar said, "Ooh, I haven't heard that one in 5 years of doing this job!"

She's not on any of these lists though.

minouminou · 13/07/2009 14:10

Actually, The OddOne....I was half expecting my DS' name to show up, too!

minouminou · 13/07/2009 14:09

Isambard is fab!
Right, DS isn't at school yet, but our local park features:
Frodo
Kelis (as in fright-wigged and bonkers (but great) chanteuse)
Merlin
twins Blake and Byron (they've moved now)
Kaylan (Aussie parents)
Django
DS' nursery doesn't feature many unusual names (except for his), although there's a Ludvik, but he's German.

squeaver · 13/07/2009 14:07

Come on, some of you are making these up! J'adore, ffs!!

Although I have encountered:

Diamond (girl) and 2 brothers named Jet and Zoom.
