I forgot to add this one to my lists. I think it might be quite fresh on a youngster?
Opinions from the experts please

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Greensleeves · 30/04/2009 12:06

I think it's a beautiful name. I would consider it if we had a girl

Shila82 · 30/04/2009 12:04

isn't it Aylin? a turkish name for girls?

EyeballsintheSky · 23/04/2009 21:50

I have an Irish aunt Eileen who is young and funky and it really suits her. I don't think it's much different to Ellen really, wouldn't bat an eyelid if I heard it.

And there are worse songs to have sung at you

wolfear · 23/04/2009 21:48

Makes me think of a nosey neighbour wearing a mumu

CuppaTeaJanice · 23/04/2009 20:10

Makes me think of a middle aged, chain-smoking cleaner with a bubble perm.

Isla's nice if you like the 'I' sound.

oldspeckledtam · 23/04/2009 19:08

My mother is an Eileen and she's always hated it.

kalo12 · 21/04/2009 20:30

My niece is an Eileen and I admit I didn't like the thought but now she is a beautiful toddler and it really suits her and now I really like it. It does sound softer with an irish accent though (She is Irish).

branchofreason · 21/04/2009 20:20

I've just posted this comment on the Phyllis thread.
Correct me if I'm wrong..but, some posters seem to be encouraged and egged-on the more negative opinions a name receives.

"Ooh my dc will have an unusual name because nobody else likes it because it's dated"
It's a bit attention seeking and not fair to the child.

GossipMonger · 21/04/2009 19:44

Lanie for short at a push if you have to but there are billions of beautiful girl names.

BE NICE TO YOUR DAUGHTER!!!!!

gibbberish · 21/04/2009 19:39

My best friend was called Eileen and she HATED it because of the Dexy song - it haunted her all through school.

I quite like it but don't think would choose it for a baby.

KnitterInTheNW · 21/04/2009 19:39

My mum's called Eileen and says she's always not liked it. She'll be 60 this year.

TrillianAstra · 21/04/2009 19:38

too ra too ra too ra too ra aaa yay

Maybe by the time she goes to school no-one will remember that song.

Second that Aileen is nicer (but check initials etc). Eleanor is even better. Or just Ellen.

Thunderduck · 21/04/2009 19:36

No it's awful.

Nancy66 · 21/04/2009 19:35

God no, awful.

Nancy66 · 21/04/2009 19:35

GossipMonger · 21/04/2009 19:27

You have to be kidding.

Little Baby Eileen.....

Register - Ruby, Jamie, Katie, Zachary, Cherise, Levi, Adam, Eileen, Lewis, Zoe....

Poor child.

Do the test as well...

'This is Eileen Roberts, News at Ten, in Dubai.' (She sounds about 58!)

'All rise for Judge Eileen Hannaford.....'
(Might be fine for a High Court Judge!)

Dont do it.............

marytumble · 21/04/2009 19:23

I had to think about what comeon meant
I think it would sound pretty on a baby, girl, teenager. I'm warming more to it now.

Pinkchampagne · 21/04/2009 18:18

I know a little girl called Eileen (named after a grandmother) & she is very pretty and sweet. Not sure I would go for it myself though.
