Just wondered if I could have some opinions on this name please. What sort of image does it conjure up for you? Isit popular?

It's a lovely name. I associate it with a lovely, bright, charming little girl I used to babysit. I love the flower, too.

My Names Jasmine, i get called Jaz for short alot, which i think works better plus i have only ever in my life met a Yazmin and a Tamzin which are only slightly similar, and its definatly NOT chavvy (: everyone seems to think its very popular, i dont at all :/ in my high school i got called Yazmin alot becasue there had been n was Yazmins there but no Jasmines

LynetteScavo · 10/07/2009 23:11

DS1 would have been Jasmine if he's been a girl. Then I met 1 dreadful Jasmine, and it really put me off, os I didn't consider it for DS2 or DD.

There are a couple in DS1's school(both blond; I think of it as a dark hair name), but it's not too popular.

simplesusan · 10/07/2009 23:08

Reminds me of a flower.
I always imagined people would get mixed up with Jasmine and Yasmin, well I do anyway!!! and that's why I would avoid it (probably only me who gets the 2 confused though.)

surrofab · 10/07/2009 18:52

My friend has dd aged 5 called Jazzmine. We all call her Jazz or Jazzy.
Its very popular here also.

Jasmine was dp's favourite until I struck it from the list. Way too girly.

thirtypence · 28/06/2009 05:49

I think it's rice, I mean nice.

nooka · 28/06/2009 04:15

The only Jasmine I have met was a rather classy looking (and very bright) accountant at work. Usually known as Jazz. She was Asian and one of those ladies who always looks impeccable, so that's what I associate with the name.

Shila82 · 28/06/2009 03:57

what i would imagine when i hear this persian name of a baby is Spring.

lixanismapolium · 05/05/2009 16:27

My DD is Jazmine - shortened to Jaz. Love it.

Shila82 · 29/04/2009 13:19

Really nice name, I love it!

It is a persian langauge originated name for girls as i found here at persian baby names

ohdearwhatamess · 21/04/2009 21:25

Lovely name.

Don't know any children with this name. A good friend of mine has this name, but she is known as Jas by everyone (and that suits her much more than Jasmine would).

Tortoise · 21/04/2009 21:12

My DD's NN is Mini. My friend calls her Yazz and i don't like that!

LaDiDaDi · 21/04/2009 19:06

I like it, don't like Jazz as a nn though.

pinkmagic1 · 21/04/2009 18:31

My DD is Yasmin, would hate to think people think its chavvy. I love Jasmine too, its popular here, but not too popular to make it too popular, if you know what I mean!

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 18:24

Whats the most popualr name lljkk?

lljkk · 21/04/2009 18:22

The 2nd most popular name around here.
Doesn't do anything for me, but nothing wrong with it, either.

FlyMeToDunoon · 21/04/2009 18:14

I like it but there is Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladin

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 18:05

It was a MNer who told me that Tortise

BunnyLebowski · 21/04/2009 18:04

I like it too. It's pretty and girly. Don't know any round these parts.

MintyyAeroEgg · 21/04/2009 18:04

Like Jasmine very much. It makes me think of the flower (which has a lovely scent and is small white flowers on a very pretty climbing plant).

basementbear · 21/04/2009 18:01

I like Jasmine and Yazmin, don't think they are chavvy but both are vpopular

Tortoise · 21/04/2009 17:59

The Bratz doll is Yasmine not Jasmine.

suwoo · 21/04/2009 14:59

It might have been your post I was thinking of Lizzy. I don't think its chavvy.

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 14:21

I really liked it until I posted on MN about it and it was called chavvy and I was also told about the bratz doll called Jasmine which put me off as well.

We're going for Rosa now
