Rosie - short for...?

After months of debate (and only 2 weeks left to decide) DH and I are settling on the name Rosie as a favourite, but DH insists that this is a nickname and we can't decide on a full name. He likes Rosanna but I'm not so keen. Any other suggestions and what are your thoughts on Rosanna?

LittleMissWorryHead · 24/04/2009 09:58

My sister in law is Rosie, short for Rosemary. Beware though - she HATES Rosemary with a passion. I really like Rosa - Rosie as a nickname

All the Rosie's I know are just 'Rosie' - not short for anything.
And I know one who is a 'Rose' but who gets called Rosie as her nickname and Rose is her posh name (IYSWIM). Which I like.

How about Rosetta, unusual enough to be distinctive but appealing in its own right

LizzyIzzyLou · 17/04/2009 14:12

Rosanna is lovely. DD will be Rosanna shortened to Rosa

BlueChampagne · 17/04/2009 12:49

Rosanne/Roseanne is subtly different to Rosanna (IMO).

PlumBumMum · 16/04/2009 21:15

I know a very tiny (three week old!) Rosie who is short for Rosemary.

piscesmoon · 16/04/2009 20:43

I like Rosamund. Rosalind is pretty.

rnbsmum · 16/04/2009 20:41

My DD is called Rosalyn who is always referred to as Rosie. Out of the other options, I think that Rosa is lovely - though doen't really need "shortening" to Rosie I s'pose...

MrsMattie · 16/04/2009 20:37

Most of the Rose names are lovely.

Rosanna is beautiful. I love Rosa, too.

Rosalie, Roisin, Rose, Roseanne all nice names.

Rosamund is foul, though, sorry!
