I like it as long as it's Montgomery with Monty as a NN.

SouthernMeerkat · 20/03/2009 22:28

I REALLY wanted Montgomery/Monty - I loved it. DH did like it but was also a Withnail fan so we backed off at the last minute. I know 2 locally now though, so I think it's possibly becoming a bit more popular - not that it will ever be very common though!

sleeplessinstretford · 20/03/2009 21:30

i wanted monty-but lovely partner said he'd never do it as in withnail there's a line about uncle monty being a 'terrible c**t' so wouldn't let me...

ingles2 · 20/03/2009 21:18

Awful... sounds like a dog
Sorry.

spicemonster · 20/03/2009 21:14

I know an MNer with a Monty. I think it's a great name

tummytickler · 20/03/2009 21:13

I know a couple of Montys age 10 and 4, and they are lovely, very boyish types iykwim.
I prefer Montgomery as a formal version, or Montague at a ush, but i guess Monty can stand on its own!
Its cute!

Leslaki · 20/03/2009 21:09

My mates wee boy is a Monty but so is my next door neighbours dog....

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2009 20:57

I've met a couple in my area (both babies). I like it, but think that you need to be at least a little bit posh to carry it off.

Thunderduck · 20/03/2009 20:53

Awful imho.

BabyValentine · 20/03/2009 20:10

Go for it. This was on our list for DD (had she been a DS!).

bodiddly · 20/03/2009 20:03

DS2's middle name is montgomery which i think is gorgeous. However not sure i'd have chosen it as a first name . . .

wolfear · 20/03/2009 19:46

I like it in principal but it reminds me of Uncle Monty in Withnail.

LynetteScavo · 20/03/2009 19:40

I love it.

I'm a traditionalist so would go for Montgomery.

petitmaman · 20/03/2009 19:40
