Beatrice or Beatrix?

Seeker - we know a Clemency! She is about 10 now.

Beatrix sounds like a baddie from a Harry Potter book.

I have a 15 mo Beatrix and we call her Bea or Bebe. She's adorable and so is her name! My other (7 yo) DD is Isobel (Izzy) BTW.

Beatrice, Florence, Alice, & Elizabeth were my DC grt grandmas' names. I'm into family history at the moment!

If I had had more DDs I would have chosen from these.

We have a Betrys which is the welsh version of Beatrice and love the name. Shortens to Bee.

Beatrice I wanted for our little girl, but hubby veotoed it. Love it, love it, love it!! Can be shortened to Trixie, which is fab, I think!

Beatrix all the way...much more unusual. Love Clementine Florence and Esme. Hate Evelyn, Evie or any of those.
How about Theodora, Dorothea, Cora, Flora?

A vote for Beatrix here. Maybe because of the Victorian, creative, arty Potter thoughts it conjures up for me, if that makes sense! For similar names, maybe Cecily? Martha?

Beatrice. I think Beatrix has quite a harsh sound (and I'm biased )

nn Bea (obvious one), but not keen.

At a push Betty or Bertie for the tomboys. But they are a bit convoluted.

BTW you can use Trixie for both Beatrice and Beatrix.

My next door neighbour's daughter was called Beatrice, Ticky for short.
I prefer Beatrix, myself but if you don't like Trix/Trixy as a nn, you'd be better off with Beatrice (although that always reminds me of cockatrices, mythical unpleasant beings)
