Howard?

I am due with number 3 in a few weeks, we don't know the sex but I am really stumped for a boy's name.

I really like Howard (Howie for short) but our eldest is Edward - do you think they are too similar?

Any other suggestions will be gratefully recieved - to give an idea of what I like, DH has already vetoed Dominic, Jeremy, Rory and Zachary!

I went out with a lovely Howard, but I wouldn't choose it for a name. Edward is lovely btw

Last of the Summer Wine-a henpecked little man with a penchant for a lady named Marina

LoveBuckets · 26/03/2009 20:30

I wanted Howard for my last baby but got vetoed. I think it's cool and Howie is a cute nn. I thik it's ok with Edward, not as bad as Edward Woodward is it?

Strawbezza · 26/03/2009 10:12

Howie sounds like Jonathan Ross trying to say 'Harry'.

RachieB · 26/03/2009 09:41

Howard and Edward are too similar IMO,yes

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 26/03/2009 09:26

that Halifax bloke is called Howard

'nuff said

2Helenback · 26/03/2009 09:22

Howard from Take That springs to mind, which conjures mental pictures of him ripping off his leather chaps in a MUCH paused section of dvd.

At a colleagues evening wedding reception last year within 10 mins of arriving at least 10 people had hissed in my ear: OMG, did you know his middle name is HOWARD!!!! The mick is still being taken at work, so it seems to be a bit of a comedy name for some people.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 26/03/2009 09:18

his middle is Gregory

Leannabanana · 26/03/2009 07:26

Howie.....adorable. love it.

TheJester · 25/03/2009 21:28

There's a Howard on The Apprentice. I still like it though.

It's a good choice, don't be like everyone else, pick something that isn't popular and isn't urban-chic old man (Arthur, Stanley).

Howard is genuinely a bit different without being mad.

hayley2u · 25/03/2009 21:26

no dont like howard at all nor dominic or jeremy im afraid. i love the name rory tho. how bout leighton i love that name and i love toby or thomas xx

NotanOtter · 25/03/2009 21:25

sounds absolutely fab

über cool in my honest and very vakid opinion

TheJester · 25/03/2009 21:24

Is his sur name Gregory? Howard a sur name too come to think of it.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 25/03/2009 20:35

someone I know is called Howard Gregory

he is definately not sexy or alluring in any shape or form

TheJester · 25/03/2009 20:31

I like Gregory and Howard. Not Nigel.

Howie with Ted would be great, but Howard and Edward would be too matchy.

screamingabdab · 25/03/2009 20:30

Nigel is better than Howard

Tinker · 25/03/2009 19:39

Yes, I quite like Gregory. Howard is shocking. No! Especially not with an Edward.

PheasantPlucker · 25/03/2009 19:37

I was going to post about the strange clown with chains, but got beaten to it!
