I want a double barrelled name because of my surname, Lee. I think Rosa Lee sounds like just one word.

So ideas needed .. Rosa - ?

Went to school with a girl called Cleo Lee. Always thought that was quite a pretty combo, although I would avoid car-names ordinarily.

LavenderStar · 09/03/2009 14:58

Laura Lee - not to my taste.

I think you need to stay away from girlie girlie names with Lee as the surname. How about Claudia?

LuLuBai · 09/03/2009 14:38

Just thought - I quite like Laura Lee. It's a bit country & western (like Lorelei) but in good way.

HelpwithNameNeeded · 09/03/2009 14:38

No not neccasirly pretty, I do like classic names though

It immediately sounds gypsy-like to me. Sorry. I think Rosa Lee is very well-known as a gypsy or fortune teller's name. I also think doubled-barrelled names are a bit chav.

It is hard work (we have the WORST surname in the world) but you'll know once you hit on the right name and all the hard work will be worth it!

What sort of girls names do you like? Do they have to be "pretty" names?

LuLuBai · 09/03/2009 09:00

Utterly Butter Lee?

Sorry being silly. I actually think Rosa Lee is very pretty and the Gypsy connotation wouldn't really bother me. Nor would the cup of tea thing. There is nothing wrong with a cup of tea is there!

How about Flora - similar feel to Rosa without the Gypsy or tea thing.

Or something that ends in a consonant so that it doesn't roll into the Lee like Imogen or Eveyln.

i think its very pretty and very unusual without being pretentious

Sophia Mae is really nice and goes perfectly with your surname....

HelpwithNameNeeded · 08/03/2009 20:42

Its true, I need a new husband

I'll run them past DH Leannabanana, I love sophia mae

How do you pronouce the last first name on your list?

LynetteScavo · 08/03/2009 20:34

I think Rosa Lee is lovely.

With the sur name Lee, lots of names will sound like like one name or will sound silly.

Anna Lee sounds like one name to.

Amelia Lee is too much of a mouth full.

Lily Lee is too frilly.

You need new sur name.

I would go for Rosa Lee.

Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 20:32

ok i'll throw some at you....middle names and surname too...

Sophia Mae Lee

Hazel Kate Lee

Freya Jade Lee

Eliora Louise Lee

We haven't got a back up that we can agree on. I like classic simple names, DH doesn't want nothing boring, popular or too wacky. Its not leaving a lot of room for manevoure

I am thinking she may just be called 'girl' at this rate

OP posts:
Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 20:13

move on i reckon.....whats your next possibility??

HelpwithNameNeeded · 08/03/2009 19:00

Yes Andrew LLoyd Webber could be the cause of a lot of misery for me

LadyBee · 08/03/2009 14:56

there's a broadway musical about her life, if you name her Rosa Lee, guaranteed that there'll be remake film or a 'who wants to be Gypsy' tv show the same year and then Everyone will think you named your daughter after a stripper. 100% certainty.

I think I may have to think of another name

The tea and gypsy connotations seem to strong, I curse my husband for giving me this surname

OP posts:
Fimbo · 07/03/2009 22:38

Rosalyn Lee (nn Rosa)

Plonker · 07/03/2009 22:34

Rosa Kate
Rosa Hope
Rosa May
Rosa Faith
Rosa Victoria
Rosa Beth
Rosa Cordelia

I actually afree with MerryMarigold - I don't think Rosa Elizabeth (two vowel sounds) goes well at all.

...and I too thought Gypsy Rosa Lee. Sorry

Isn't Rosie Lee really famous from Cider With Rosie?

I really like Rosemary Lee, or Rosanna.

Anna is nice too.

I don't like Rosa Elizabeth. 2 vowels next to each other don't work at all.

Not sure about double barelled names...not convinced, but maybe convinced if it REALLY worked.

Leannabanana · 07/03/2009 22:20

hmmmm poxy roxy? or worse that slapper off eastenders??

i think you need to chant Rosa Elizabeth very quietly over and over in DH's sleeping ear tonight.....a bit of subconscious conditioning....xx
