Roscoe.

posh but not pretentious
unusual but not wtf
quirky like 0 and 0
Scottish

Lysander is nice but a bit poetic. I see his long fingers and think how beautiful they must look playing the piano. I bet he always carries foolscap and a biro around, to jot down his thoughts.

Campbell is ok. Bit too soupy for me! sorry. I don't like Erin for the same reason.

If not Roscoe, then Bruce (after Parry not springsteen) and Donald or Victor. Victor not Scottish, but it has a lot of good attitute. Not bad attitude!

Did you go off Grey short for Gregor?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 12:33

Absolutely thumb - I am far too popular and everyone I know has had far too much sex and therefore far too many kids and have stolen all the best names!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh pooooor me

thumbwitch · 10/03/2009 12:31

You know what your real problem is, don't you - you have entirely too many friends and relations with children!!

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 12:29

See I like Brodie. But a friend of the family just called her baby that and everyone has been saying (behind her back) what an awful name it is and why on earth would she call it that. I was a bit as I really like it. Although our surname ends in 'ie' so it might sound silly. Oh confusion!

thumbwitch · 10/03/2009 12:16

I like Brodie! s'a good name.
I like Fraser too.

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 12:15

Friend just called her baby Alistair or that would have been on the list too.
What do you think to Brodie?

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 12:14

oh how many more times shall I say 'actually?'

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 12:14

A toy hamster? A toy one? Not a real one.....?
(btw our hamster is called Bruno. Quite like that actually...but ours is actually real!)

thumbwitch · 10/03/2009 12:08

Also, I had a toy hamster called Hamish...

PMSL at Rover thumbwitch
I have told him they aren't going to happen but he's affecting selective deafness and isn't interested in discussion.
Suspect this baby may be at school before it has a name

thumbwitch · 10/03/2009 10:51

Have you really Put Your Foot Down and told him they're not going to happen? And that he has to start accepting that and think about alternatives?

What about Rufus? Jasper? Alastair? Craig? Robin?

You absolutely can't call him Rory - I've just had a look at this American site and a "baby's name that is similar to Rory = Rover!!

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 10:09

Hamish or Rory.
Hamish was the name we had picked out for DD1 (and I only let him think we'd use it as I was 99% sure she was a girl and I was right). Toooooo Scottish for me (I'm English) - and tbh I just don't really like it.
Rory - I quite like but it's spoilt for me now by that horribly irritating 'roary the racing car' prog that my DD loves watching every morning. Drives me nuts so couldn't call my son that.
But DH just thinks if he keeps repeating those 2 names at me enough I'll change my mind.
Not Going To Happen

MsBeauregarde · 10/03/2009 09:37

What does your husband like? If he were naming baby #3m alone what would he decide upon?!

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 09:35

Morning MsB in disguise - I guessed it was you from one of your comments yesterday! Sorry not keen on Lorcan.. I like Lawrence but DH looked poe-faced when I mentioned it. He's a tricky bugger and I do think he's possibly slightly in denial that the bump is actually going to be a baby (if that makes sense). Men are strange creatures aren't they?

Thanks for all your help - I am just such a tricky customer to please.

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 09:31

dizzy - after all your hard work you can't possibly be fired....come back, I need you.
fimbo - hmm guess you might know DH but it was / is a huge school - he is [tries to remember] almost 36. His dad used to be on t'telly. He has 2 sisters. There you go, should be able to identify him easily from those clues!!

So, last night I'd gone to bed. Return of the (all day) morning sickness - at 30+ wks, not fair.
Hugh - I like but we have a Hugo in close family so no
Not keen on Jimmy (or indeed Small).
Murray and Wallace are on my list (and I like Forbes but DH pulls faces) - but our surname is a M name so Murray doesn't sound great with it
Have a nephew called Harry (so no)
Romish is wonderful [thinks again - actually no]

I think I may have to wait until it comes out and hope I/we are hit by the bus of inspiration.
DH came to bed last night and said 'How's baby Hamish then?'. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

MsBeauregarde · 10/03/2009 09:24

Frazzled, sorry if this has been ruled out before, but what about Lorcan. Gaelic for Lawrence. Lawrie for short is good though.

tis liff.ey here. named changed. don't say my name or I'll have to kill you.

LuLuBai · 10/03/2009 06:58

Oh I love Hugh. That's the middle name for this one if it's a boy (after my grandfather). Go for Hugh Frazzled.

Fimbo · 09/03/2009 23:39

Friend of a friend in Glasgow calls baby Jimmy, surname is Small. The parents are both around 5ft. Of course the baby is know known to all in sundry as Wee Jimmy.

If your Dh is so desperately keen on Rory or Hamish, what about
Harry
or Romish? (ok, this one's probably made up, but it would be different!)

dizzydixies · 09/03/2009 23:01

thanks, I do try

Fimbo · 09/03/2009 23:00
