We would like to call our DS Alfie but don't know whether to 'register' him as Alfie or Alfred. The reasons being:
- Alfie can only shortened to alfie or Alf
- Alfred can be Alfie, Alf, Fred or Freddie.
But is it cruel making a boy/man write his full name on forms etc as 'Alfred'? does it sound too old-man-ish??
