You called?

Oh, right... erm... NO!

Yeni · 23/02/2009 18:31

She'd need an awfully pert bottom.

lolianja · 23/02/2009 18:13

I'm friends with a teenage Peach, we were mates at school when IW was between about 10 and 13, when she left. She was a couple of years below me. Save for an initial wave of laughter and a few hisses of "Peach?! What the fu*k?" when the new childrens' names were read out in assembly at the beginning of term she didn't get any substantial grief I have to admit (and there were kids who did). Although she had what it took to carry it off if you see what I mean. Very, very skinny and delicately pretty, the archetypal "queen bee" type. Cool as a cucumber.

It could work theoretically, depending on where you live, how the kid turns out etc. But personally I wouldn't risk it. To be brutally honest it does sound horribly twee and pretentious.

good. thank you mumsnetters! I personally love the directness of this forum!

Awful. Sorry.

SAEJ · 23/02/2009 17:34

No, unless you are describing someones bottom. . . .

Fimbo · 23/02/2009 14:04

Have you been playing Mario Kart?

HensMum · 23/02/2009 14:02

How would you feel if your parents had named you Peach?
No. It's awful.

beforesunrise · 23/02/2009 13:58

atrocious, and not even fun/trendy. just awful.

sorry, i am not usually this direct on baby names, but i feel I owe it to your unborn child to put you off. she'd hate you for it.

Thunderduck · 23/02/2009 13:47

Good god no! Unless you want her to have a future in porn.

AuroraB · 23/02/2009 13:30

My cat is called peach. after the tart with a heart in Lonesome Dove

minnymoeandsue · 23/02/2009 12:02
Hmm
lastboxoftampons · 23/02/2009 12:02

It's not actually a name for a person - it's a fruit, a THING! No!

gagamama · 23/02/2009 11:20

I don't think fruit is ever a good avenue to go down...

Niecie · 23/02/2009 09:32

Better than Apple (who wants to be hard and green) but not really a good idea.

Sounds like it could be a porn star kind of a name.

CharleeInChains · 23/02/2009 09:29

I know a girl called Shannon-Peach. She is lovely and most people call her Peach.

MmeLindt · 23/02/2009 09:25

NONONO

MouseMate · 23/02/2009 09:24

My DSD has a friend called Paige - my dd insists that her name is Peach, and now I have a hard time thinking of her as anything but. Great nickname, but not a good real name (Prime Minister Peach Smith???) Makes me think of a Jackie Collins character

MrsMattie · 23/02/2009 09:23

Hideous.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/02/2009 09:23

Nice for a tiny baby, but only that I think...

PeppermintPatty · 23/02/2009 09:22

It's ok as a nickname, at a push a middle name. But wouldn't use it as a first name sorry.

Weegiemum · 23/02/2009 09:21

No, never!

AliceTheCamel · 23/02/2009 09:18

I quite like it.

The only thing that would put me off is that it might be seen as a Geldof tribute.

wotulookinat · 23/02/2009 09:11

Always good to have a bloke's opinion, especially when it is the same as mine
