Only 15 weeks, bt really struggling. Was liking Finn, but just not sure. My favourite girls name was Cecily but DH has declared it poncey and pretentious knobhead. I am now liking Kitty for a girl and Felix for a boy. Is Felix just too........feline? . Is everyone always going to think of the cat food or is it just a twats name?

Heeeeeeeeelllllppppp

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know a couple - one toddler, one late 20s. Both attractive with a mischievious glint.

Personally I really love the name and don't think 'cats' at all. Anyway, cat food hasn't put anyone off the name Arthur lately has it.

I think James Bond's American counterpartin some of the books was called Felix.

Homebird8 I am truly at your mother. My MIL looked like she had just sucked on a lemon when we told her DDs name but tough! There was no way I was going to change it. DH and I both love it and that's what matters. You are never going to please everyone.

tribpot · 19/02/2009 07:50

I like it. I work with someone called Felix, he's great. Never made the cat association with him.

suwoo · 19/02/2009 07:27

Anymore for anymore?

jellybeans · 18/02/2009 22:39

Not for me

suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:31

Where are you catMandu? It bothers me slightly although DS is Noah which is fucking everywhere these days.

OP posts:
catMandu · 18/02/2009 22:29

We eliminated it because of the cat thing, but actually I now know a few Felix's and have never made that link. It's quite common in these parts, if that bothers you.

funnypeculiar · 18/02/2009 22:27

I'm not sure men are allowed to read Georgette Heyer novels - will rack brains for any other cool Felixes

Homebird8 · 18/02/2009 22:27

We called DS2 Felix and he was that for all of 4 hours until mum got wind of it. She blasted me with a tirade about the unsuitableness of Felix as a name and we decided subsequently to change it. We couldn't bear the idea of the child's grandmother telling everyone with "that" look on her face what he was called and explaining that I (his mother) "must have been very tired when the decision was made".

abear · 18/02/2009 22:27

I have two boys. I wanted to call the first one Felix. DH wouldn't have it but four years on he came round and now we have an Oliver and a Felix. Felix so suits a name which means happy. I liked Cecily too btw.

janeite · 18/02/2009 22:25

Now Tobias, I DO like - well, I love Toby anyway.

suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:24

Sorry, my last post was to SamVimes not falcon. Hmm will have to get DH to read it FP, need to influence him more methinks.

funnypeculiar · 18/02/2009 22:21

I am also hugely influenced by a lovely boy Felix in a Georgette Heyer novel (Frederica I think)

suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:19

Now falcon, funny you should say that- that is the 'image' I aspire to. Although would never wear Boden myself .

OP posts:
suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:17

You see DH doesn't think its poncey- or he hasn't said so. He neally snorted beer down his nose when I suggested Tobias- that was apparently too pretentious. I am loving the meaning of lucky as this baby was never meant to be conceived and was a HUGE stroke of fate that it was.

OP posts:
SamVimesIsMyHero · 18/02/2009 22:17

Not for me. Just a bit pink-boden-trouser-wearing. Love Kitty though.

mileniwmffalcon · 18/02/2009 22:16

btw we have kitty as a mn

preggersplayspop · 18/02/2009 22:16

No offence taken, you didn't sound arsey suwoo.
I love names with an X in them for some reason. I'm going to have another go at persuading my DH to add Felix onto our short-list for if I manage to get pregnant again. I've decided I really really like Felix again now!

mileniwmffalcon · 18/02/2009 22:14

it was on our my list, but dp was strongly against, he thinks poncey, i think cool. it gave fil the screaming heebie jeebies so obviously we taunted him with it as often as humanly possible

ABetaDad · 18/02/2009 22:14

Course its nice. I used to work with a bloke called Felix and his business partner called Pinky (Pincus).

Clary · 18/02/2009 22:13

Oh I see preggers made my joke already

Clary · 18/02/2009 22:12

I love Cecily .

Felix is nice too. Don't worry about the cat. I know a Felix and he's lovely. Easy to spell, hard to shorten, everyone has heard of it but there aren't hundreds - yep, ticks all my boxes.

Maybe wouldn't do Kitty and Felix as siblings tho

suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:10

to preggers, I wasn't being arsey.

OP posts:
suwoo · 18/02/2009 22:10

LOL at Kitty and Felix together, I am hoping its a boy or a girl preggers. It doesn't neccessarily 'go' with our surname either, but nothing really does.

My dd has a saying "Felix is as fit as a fish"

funnypeculiar · 18/02/2009 22:09

Well, I was sort of right - happy, lucky, it's all good
